While the 2022 model year was a little bit confusing, considering that both the new and old models were on offer, things are pretty clear now with the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover, when the new generation is offered solely, it all variants. The second production year brings the anticipated plug-in hybrid version to the table, which joins two gasoline variants. Other than that, we can’t say that there are significant changes.
You may count on a very fresh model, which was redesigned last year, after almost a decade. Compared to the previous version, the new model is bigger and more luxurious. Also, it brings improvements regarding on-road manners, without sacrificing off-road performance. For the first time, this SUV is available in two variants – as a standard two-row SUV or as a long-wheelbase three-row iteration.
The new model is already available in most markets.
2023 Land Rover Range Rover Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the Range Rover was redesigned last year and this overhaul brought a lot of novelties. It rides on the new MLA Flex platform and comes with a new, more stylish exterior design. Although the new design language brings evolutionary changes, everything feels more elegant and more futuristic in the new model, so the Range Rover is once again one of the fanciest SUVs on the market.
The new model also offers a smoother and more comfortable ride without sacrificing any of its off-road performance. In this aspect, things are pretty much as we used from a Range Rover. All models come standard with a four-wheel drive, as well as with adaptive air suspension that can lift up this SUV up to 11 inches from the ground. Among off-road features, you may also count on a two-speed transfer case, low-speed cruise control, Terrain Response, four-wheel steering etc.
The interior of the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover is designed in a typical British luxury style, with a lot of classic design solutions. The conservative design comes in a combination with lots of tech and convenience features, while the build quality is at a super-high level. Everything is assembled very well, while a vast majority of the cabin is covered with soft-touch high-quality materials.
As we already mentioned, the new generation is available in two seating configurations. Standard-wheelbase models feature two rows of seats, which are both spacious and comfortable. The long-wheelbase version comes with the additional third row, which isn’t as spacious as third rows in models like Lincoln Navigator and Cadillac Escalade, but still can be pretty functional.
The standard-wheelbase model offers 40.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats and 83.5, which is pretty decent for the segment. On the other hand, the three-row model won’t provide you with much space behind the third row but, on the other hand, the total cargo volume goes up to 93 cubic feet.
When it comes to standard equipment, the base model comes with goodies like a 13.7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13.1-inch touch screen, navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, wireless device charging, Bluetooth, multiple USB ports, a 14-speaker stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio a Wi-Fi hot spot, keyless entry, power soft-closing doors, tri-zone automatic climate control and a panoramic sunroof. When it comes to available upgrades, you can get goodies like quad-zone automatic climate control, refrigerated front and rear center consoles, a fold-out tray table, rear sunshades, an 8-inch touch screen in the rear center armrest, a rear-seat entertainment system with two 11.4-inch displays, additional wireless device charging and 18- and 34-speaker sound systems.
In terms of safety features, all models will come standard with goodies like surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keeps assist, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, driver drowsiness monitoring, traffic-sign recognition, automatic high beams and more.
2023 Land Rover Range Rover Engines
As we’ve just mentioned, the plug-in hybrid version has just joined the powertrain lineup. Codenamed P440e, it comes with a system that’s based on an inline-six engine and features a combined output of 434 horsepower. In terms of power, this is a mid-level option, which also comes with a 38-kWh battery pack that ensures up to 48 miles of the all-electric range.
The rest of the lineup continues in the same way. So, base versions are equipped with a 3.0-liter inline-six, which gets help from a turbocharged and electric supercharger. Also, the engine is paired with a 48-V mild hybrid system and the max output goes around 434 horsepower.
Finally, there is the P530 version, which comes equipped with a 4.4-liter turbo-four that puts out around 523 horsepower.
