The next year is definitely be a year of luxury SUVs. Not only that we are about to see a plethora of novelties, but several ultra luxury and exotic carmakers about to come with crossovers for the first time. For example. We are about to see a hi-performance SUV from Ferrari, as well as ultra-luxurious models like Aston Martin Varekai. Also, Hyundai is about to introduce the first crossover from its luxury division.
That won’t be all. Besides all-new models, we are also about to see several hi-performance versions of existing models, starting from M-badged versions of BMW X5 and X7 models. Audi prepares the response, as we are about to see the 2020 Audi RS Q8.
After a great reception of Stelvio, Alfa Romeo is coming with two more brand-new crossovers, while Porsche is about to introduce a coupe version of Cayenne. The last but not the least interesting novelty is about concept versions of new SUVs from Ford and Chevy, which are about to come inspired by iconic muscle cars, Mustang and Camaro.
2020 Genesis GV80
The 2020 Genesis GV80 will definitely be one of the most interesting models to come for the next year. It is one of two SUVs that are about to come from Hyundai’s new luxury division. This one will compete in the segment of mid-size luxury crossover, with models like BMW X5, Audi Q7 etc. Latest reports suggest that the production version won’t go too far away from a concept, which was presented recently.
Besides the same name, the production model will also come with a very similar styling, characterized by a quite boxy shape and muscular lines. In terms of size, the new model will be longer and wider. On the inside, expect a simplistic but luxurious approach. When it comes to the powertrain, base models will come with a familiar 3.8-liter V6 engine with around 310 horsepower. A 5.0-liter V8 will be reserved for the most expensive version. Expected to see it in the second half of the year.
2020 Audi RS Q8
After the recent launch of the new mid-size luxury coupe crossover, it is time for a performance version. With the 2020 Audi RS Q8, the company from Ingolstadt aims rivals like BMW X6 M, Mercedes-AMG GLE 63, Range Rover Sport SVR and similar models. At this point, the new model is still in the testing stage. The mule has been spotted on the road and it looks like there are numerous styling upgrades, including new bumper with larger air intakes, new exhaust pipes and much more. Of course, count also on a new suspension and brakes, as well as on a couple of chassis modifications.
Still, the most interesting part of the new model is the engine. There are two possibilities for the 2020 Audi RS Q8. The first and more probable is to see a familiar 4.0-liter V8 unit, the same that powers Porsche Cayenne and delivers around 600 horsepower. Some reports also suggest an electrified version. It this case, we would once again see a familiar system from Porsche’s crossover, with a max output of around 680 hp.
2020 Jaguar I Pace
The I Pace came as a completely new model recently and it looks like the British manufacturer is already preparing for the second production. Other than that, things will remain pretty much the same. This crossover is strong in many aspects, starting from amazing performances. It comes with a couple of electric motors, for a total output of around 400 horsepower. Besides plenty of power, it also features a quite impressive range of around 240 miles. The cabin is also very spacious and comfortable, including the cargo area. All in all, Jaguar made a fantastic crossover and we have no doubt that the I Pace will make great commercial success in the following years.
2020 Porsche Cayenne
Porsche is also coming with great novelties for the next year. As the famous Cayenne has been redesigned last year, we are now about to see its coupe version. It has been presented already and should hit the market soon. From what we can see, it looks like the biggest difference will be in the lower, sloping roof design, which resembles the rear end of the famous 911 sports car.
Other than that, things will remain pretty familiar. The front end will be identical, as well as the interior design. Still, count on a little bit smaller cargo area, due to roof design. When it comes to the powertrain, the company will offer all the engines that it’s already offering in the standard version. However, initial versions will be available with only 3.0-liter V6 with around 340 and with a 4.0-liter V8, which delivers 550 horsepower. base models will go around 77.000 dollars.

It will be a new flagship crossover, bigger than Stelvio. This means it will compete in the segment of mid-size luxury crossovers, with models like BMW X5, Audi Q7 etc. It will ride on the stretched version of Giorgio platform and should feature the same aesthetical approach as Stelvio. We will probably see both two- and three-row versions in the offer. We also expect from it to stick to the brand’s current design language, which currently characterizes models like Stelvio and Giulia. In terms of the powertrain, it will come with four-cylinder engines only. It will be offered in Europe as well, so oil-burners should be offered too. Details about the launch date are still unavailable, while the base price will probably go around 30.000 dollars.
2020 Aston Martin Varekai
SUVs are taking over the market, so it’s no wonder that even manufacturers that are traditionally known for ultra-luxurious sedans and sports cars are now working on crossovers as well. Of course, Aston Martin is one of them. The British luxury carmaker is about to introduce an all-new, first-ever crossover. It will be named as 2020 Aston Martin Varekai and should hit the market by the end of the year.
From what we know so far, this crossover will come with a completely new platform, which will be used from other models in the future as well. You can count all those upgrades that are typical for the Bavarian performance division. The testing model has been spotted and the camouflage indicates a nice amount of styling changes. Additionally, there is a fine number of mechanical upgrades to come as well, starting from a new suspension, brakes and other chassis modifications. Finally, we expect to see a new powertrain. That should be a new version of the familiar 4.4-liter V8 engine, which debuted recently in the new M5 model. It features a max output of around 600 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque and comes in pair with a new 8-speed automatic transmission.
2020 BMW X7 M
The next year will definitely be a year for hi-performance models from the German manufacturer. Along with the new X5 M, we expect to see the M-badged version of the recently introduced brand-new X7 model. Once again, count on a plethora of modifications that are typical for the M division. Therefore, we should see several visual modifications, as well as mechanical upgrades. Upgraded dampers, M Sport differential and brakes are just some of the modifications. Visually, the 2020 BMW X7 M will come with a lot of new bodywork, starting from new bumpers, wheels, modified grille etc. Under the hood, we count on the same 4.4-liter V8 engine, which should be able to provide a 0-60 time in about 4.5 seconds. The new version is expected to arrive in the second half of the year, while details about the price are still unavailable.
2020 Camaro SUV

Allegedly, we are about to see the new model in the next year, though just in the form of a concept. The production version will probably have to wait for some more time. When it comes to base design characteristics, the new SUV will share the platform and many mechanical parts with the iconic sports car. It will also feature a styling that closely resembles the famous pony. Of course, Chevy will come up with a plethora of design characteristics that will emphasize its SUV-ish character. Also, it looks like the new concept will come with an electrified powertrain. Allegedly, that will be a powerful hybrid powertrain, though details are still unavailable.
2020 Ferrari SUV
If we can rely on the latest rumors, it looks that Lamborghini Urus won’t remain the fastest SUV in the world for too long. The rival company, Ferrari is preparing a crossover as well. Although still in an early stage of development, some details about the new model already seem certain. One of them is that the new SUV will feature pretty compact dimensions. It will be smaller than the Urus, which indicates that the company is aiming rather on agility and excellent handling, than on plenty of power. Speaking of power, we can hear some pretty interesting rumors about the new model. Allegedly, the 2020 Ferrari SUV will be the first-ever model to come with a hybrid powertrain. Unfortunately, details are still unavailable. Most likely, we will see a concept version first. More details should be known in the future.
