Things are getting pretty tough in the segment of premium mid-size crossover, so the company from Ingolstadt is already working on the refresh of the flagship SUV. This model has been around for years, but the current generation is only three years old. Still, the testing model has been spotted already and it will bring lots of novelties if we can rely on the latest spy shots. Of course, the focus is on visual appearance, which should come with lots of new things. Interior changes should be numerous as well. On the other side, mechanical changes between redesigns aren’t typical in this company, so the 2020 Audi Q7 will probably keep the same characteristics in this aspects. Still, we won’t exclude the possibility to see few tweaks to the powertrain. Expect to see the new version maybe even in the first half of next year.
2020 Audi Q7 Redesign
As we already mentioned, bigger mechanical changes are not so common thing among vehicles from the VW Group. Therefore, the 2020 Audi Q7 should continue in the same way in this aspect. The popular mid-size luxury crossover will continue to ride on a familiar MLB platform, sharing parts with models like VW Touareg, Bentley Bentayga etc.
Styling
On the other side, styling changes will be numerous. The testing model has been spotted. Judging on the camouflage, there will be a lot of interesting novelties in terms of visual appearance. Of course, the first thing that comes to our minds is the front end. A lot of this area has been covered which clearly indicates that we are about to see some kind of adaptation to the company’s newest design language. We count on a new grille, which will keep the similar shape and come with a little bit smaller dimensions. On the other side, the front fascia and bumper will be completely restyled, with a new shape and new designs of air intakes, fog lights etc. From the side, we can notice covers on fender flares, which indicate the 2020 Audi Q7 could become more muscular. Of course, we count on new wheels designs too.
When it comes to the rear end, the camouflage also covers a quite big surface, though we believe changes won’t be so intense in this case. Some smaller rework on taillights are expected, as well as new rear bumper, exhaust tips, and similar things.
Interior
This aspect of the crossover probably won’t feature too many changes. Of course, the base layout will definitely remain the same. This three-row crossover can accommodate 7 passengers. Still, the third row is a little tight, which is a common thing for a mid-size SUV. On the other side, this model offers more cargo space than most of its rivals. When the third row folds down, you can count on 37 cubic feet of space. The overall capacity goes way over 70 cubic feet. Also, there is a lot of small storage areas around the whole cabin.
When it comes to the interior quality, the 2020 Audi Q7 will offer one very refined cabin, full of top-notch materials. This refers to both seats, which are amazingly supportive, and dashboard, which features plenty of soft-touch materials. The styling of the dash belongs to the previous generation of Audi’s vehicles, so we could expect to see a bit of improvement in this aspect.
In terms of standard equipment, the 2020 Audi Q7 will continue with the same organization which consists of three trim levels – Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. Each one will get a couple of new standard features for sure. Some reports even suggest that the famous 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, known as Audi Virtual Cockpit, will become a standard feature in all models. At this moment, it comes with the top-level Prestige model, but it is also available as an option in the Premium Plus version.
2020 Audi Q7 Engine
Two engines are currently available in this SUV. We expect the same from the 2020 Audi Q7. Therefore, count on a familiar 2.0-liter turbo inline-four, which delivers 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. If you need more power, there is an optional 3.0-liter V6, which delivers 333 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. Both engines deliver similar mpg ratings and both are above average results for the class. You can count on 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. Both engines are coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Some reports also suggest a hybrid version in the near future. A mid-cycle refresh could be a perfect occasion for such novelty. However, we are still waiting to hear something from the officials.
2020 Audi Q7 Release Date and Price
The 2020 Audi Q7 is coming next year and should have a premiere on some major show in the first half of next year. Sales should start soon after and we don’t expect bigger changes in price. The current model starts at around 50.000 dollars.
