2023 Chevy Bolt: More Affordable Than Ever!

2023 Chevy Bolt

Chevy’s first all-electric vehicle has been around since 2016 and while that may not seem as too long for a traditional ICE car, things are much different in the segment of electric vehicles. This segment is currently developing at rapid speed, so the Bolt already feels a little bit outdated in some aspects. In order to keep it competitive for some more time, the company decided to cut the price again. This time, the price cut is $5.900. If we add the price cut the last year, the 2023 Chevy Bolt will be nearly $11.000 dollars cheaper than the 2021 model.

With such a price drop, Bolt will remain competitive for some more time, even though there are no other changes to come. The next year’s model will continue in the same way, with a familiar design and features. This refers to the powertrain as well, where we are about to see a familiar configuration and the same performance.

2023 Chevy Bolt Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2023 Chevy Bolt will carry on with the same design, which was originally introduced in 2016. Since then, we haven’t seen too many changes, so the overall layout is pretty much the same. This vehicle rides on the company’s BEVII platform, the same one that underpins the recently-introduced Bolt EUV.

The styling will remain the same and the 2023 Chevy Bolt will continue with all those futuristic elements, even though the overall shape is quite conventional. This car coquettes between the hatchback and crossover segments, which makes it approachable to a wide range of potential buyers. The only change for the 2023 model year is the new Radiant Red Tintcoat finish.

The battery ensures a low center of gravity and combined with a relatively firm suspension setup, it provides pretty engaging handling and a pretty high level of athleticism. Still, we think that Bolt should have sacrificed some of its athleticism, in order to make the ride a little bit softer.

Interior

Like many electric cars in the past, the Bolt was also criticized for its plasticky interior. However, that changed with the 2022 update, which has brought a completely new layout. The cabin looks much nicer now, thanks to the new dashboard design and much nicer materials. There is also a pretty long list of tech and convenience features, which make everything look even more upscale.

Despite the pretty modest exterior dimensions, this EV offers a surprisingly spacious cabin. It comes with two quite spacious rows of seats, which both accommodate adults in a nice fashion. Moreover, the front seats are well-shaped and offer great comfort and support. Also, the relatively high driving position ensures good outward visibility in all directions.

The cargo area offers around 16.6 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats, while the total volume goes up to 57 cubic feet.

Features

We expect that the 2023 Chevy Bolt will come without more important changes in this aspect. So, base models should come with goodies like an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.2-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a six-speaker audio system, two USB ports, satellite radio, Bluetooth, automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, and remote start. Also, expect to see a couple of available upgrades, such as wireless device charging, additional USB ports, and a seven-speaker Bose audio system.

When it comes to safety features, base models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, following distance indicator, automatic high beams etc. Also, there is a couple of available upgrades, such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane change assist, surround-view parking camera system etc.

2023 Chevy Bolt Powertrain and Performance

Of course, this aspect won’t bring changes either. So, you may count on just one configuration in the offer, one that includes a single electric motor that’s mounted at the front axle. The motor features a max output of around 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. That’s plenty enough for great driving dynamics in all situations, especially if we consider that the max torque is available immediately.

The electric motor comes paired with a 65-kWh battery pack, which provides around 259 miles, which is pretty competitive, even by today’s standards. Of course, you may count on various charging options, including the fast charger, which is capable of adding 100 miles of range in about 30 minutes.

2023 Chevy Bolt Release Date and Price

The 2023 Chevy Bolt should arrive very soon and it will be more affordable than ever, considering the significant price drop. Base models will now cost just 26.600 dollars, which makes this car more affordable than Nissan LEAF now.
