It’s been 12 years since Nissan launched its first EV called Leaf, which eventually became the first mainstream electric vehicle in the world and things on the market are significantly different today. The amount of EV models that come from different manufacturers is impressive and the competition is extremely fierce. That’s why the Japanese company is launching the all-new model called 2023 Nissan Ariya, which will bring a completely different design approach, with a more appealing design to a wider range of buyers.
The new model comes as a compact SUV and it brings a completely new design, which doesn’t have many things in common with the old Leaf. It looks way more attractive and also comes packed with all kinds of advanced technologies, which is necessary for today’s market. The 2023 Nissan Ariya will be offered in different variants, regarding power and battery capacity, so buyers will have the opportunity to configure this crossover in the way they want.

2023 Nissan Ariya Design
The 2023 Nissan Ariya is an all-new model, which comes with a completely new design. It rides on the company’s latest version of the CMF-EV platform, which was developed jointly with Renault and Mitsubishi. The new model comes in the form of a compact crossover, with dimensions that are pretty similar to RAV4, the most popular ICE model in the segment.
Visually, you can notice a significant improvement over the old Leaf. While the old hatchback was accentuating its all-electric nature in so many ways, that’s not the case with Ariya. Instead, this model features a pretty elegant design that is more about conventional design solutions. Still, the overall look is more than attractive, thanks to narrow headlights, the latest iteration of the V-Motion grille and other parts. Of course, the front end isn’t the only interesting area of the vehicle. We also like the sloping roof very much, which brings a little bit of that coupe SUV flavor.
The new SUV also rides pretty well. Thanks to the battery pack that’s located under the floor, the center of gravity is pretty low, so there isn’t much body lean in corners. Also, the steering is quite precise, which makes this crossover pretty engaging to drive.
Interior
Today’s electric cars don’t have to be just efficient, they have to be pretty luxurious. Therefore, it’s no wonder that Nissan designers put a lot of effort into cabin design. The dashboard looks very elegant, with a combination of simplistic design, fine materials and lots of modern tech features. There is also a bunch of nice details, such as massive screens, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, a fancy-shaped shifter etc.

As we already mentioned, the Ariya is similarly sized to the RAV4. However, it features a notably longer wheelbase, so the amount of passenger space is notably bigger. That particularly refers to the rear-seat legroom, which is very generous. The front seats are also very spacious, well shaped and offer a very good driving position.
2023 Nissan Ariya Powertrain and Performance.
The 2023 Nissan Ariya will come in two variants regarding drivetrain. Base models will feature a single electric motor, with a max output of either 218 or 234 horsepower, which should be enough to satisfy most buyers. This version is capable to hit 60 in about 7 seconds. On the other hand, Nissan will also offer a performance version with two electric motors and all-wheel drive, with a max output of 389 horsepower. This model should be able to hit 60 in less than 5 seconds.
Also, there will be two battery packs on offer. Base models will come with a 63-kWh battery pack, which should ensure around 250 miles of range. On the other hand, models with a bigger 87-kWh battery pack should be able to make 300 miles on a single charge. Speaking of the charging, the new model will support fast charging of up to 130 kW.

2023 Nissan Ariya Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2023 Nissan Ariya will hit the market next year, with a starting price of around 40.000 dollars. Models with two electric motors will cost around 67.000 dollars.
