The new Qashqai is here and it has brought a lot of novelties. After eight years of production, the second generation was replaced with the new one, which comes in the form of the 2022 Nissan Qashqai. As we are talking about one of the most important models for the brand in Europe, it’s no wonder that most of the changes are evolutionary. However, we will see some pretty important novelties in the near future.
Meanwhile, the new generation of this small crossover comes with a nice number of interesting upgrades. It looks better than before, especially from the inside. Also, there are new engine options, as well as a pretty long list of standard and available features. Like it’s always been, the Qashqai isn’t particularly sporty but it is easy to drive. The new, pretty interesting hybrid version is on the way, and it will bring a little bit different approach compared to the current models on the market that mix petrol and electric power.

2022 Nissan Qashqai Redesign
Design-wise, the 2022 Nissan Qashqai is an evolution of the previous generation. Simply, Nissan decided not to change the recipe that brings so much money to the company. The new model also rides on a familiar CMF platform, though slightly upgraded. There is a new suspension setup, which should provide better ride quality. Also, the company claims that the chassis is stiffer than before.
Another notable change is the size. Compared to the previous generation, the new model features a longer wheelbase, which is now at 105 inches. The new model is also longer, which all has a highly positive impact on the interior.
What’s also easy to notice is the new styling. You can see a new, bigger and more prominent version of the famous V-Motion grille, along with new C-shaped headlights and more muscular overall appeal. We also like the new 20-inch wheels, as well as the fact that the color palette is now bigger than before.
Interior
Big changes have come on the inside as well. Qashqai’s interior has always been good in terms of materials and build quality. However, aesthetics weren’t great and the previous generation looked a little bit boring. Fortunately, that has changed, considering that the new dashboard design brings some pretty interesting, attractive design solutions. The build quality and materials are even better, while there is also a whole new bunch of tech features, including the new tablet-like touchscreen, which all make this cabin looks even better.

Besides improved aesthetics, this cabin also offers more space and functionality than before. Thanks to the longer wheelbase, there is more legroom now, especially in the second row, though we have to say that the previous generation was quite spacious as well. Both rows accommodate adult passengers with ease, while the cargo area is bigger than before. You may count on about 503 liters with all seats up and up to 1539 liters of the total cargo volume.
Features
Besides good build quality, the 2022 Nissan Qashqai also comes with all kinds of tech goodies on offer. Base models come with a smaller 8-inch touchscreen, which is nice but has limited connectivity options. On the other hand, the optional 9-inch unit seems like a much better deal. It is bigger, sharper and comes with lots of additional connectivity features. You may also count on navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, premium audio system etc.
Another really nice feature is a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, which is transparent and pretty easy to read. You can also get a new 10-inch head-up display, something you won’t find in any other model in this class.
2022 Nissan Qashqai Engines
When it comes to the powertrain, the base 2022 Nissan Qashqai comes with a 1.3-liter turbo engine, which puts out around 140 horsepower. You can also go for an upgrade and get a version with 160 horsepower. In both cases, the engine comes in a mild-hybrid setup, which improves driving dynamics and more importantly, meets the latest emissions standards. Both engines come standard with a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the more powerful unit can be paired with the CVT as well.
Soon enough, we will see a new powertrain option in the 2022 Nissan Qashqai. Nissan is about to introduce its new, E-Power hybrid system, which works in a little bit different way than typical hybrids. It features a 1.5-liter turbo engine, but that engine doesn’t run the wheels. Instead, it charges the 2-kWh battery, which powers a single electric motor that puts out nearly 200 horsepower. In other words, this hybrid provides the driving experience you would get from an all-electric vehicle.

2022 Nissan Qashqai Pricing
The new Nissan Qashqai currently starts at around £24.000 in the UK. In the rest of Europe, the price starts at around 27.500 Euro.
