2023 Chevy Trailblazer

Chevy’s subcompact crossover has been in North America for a couple of years and, therefore, we don’t expect to see bigger changes. From what we know so far, the 2023 Chevy Trailblazer will bring only minor updates, in terms of new color options. Other than that, things will remain pretty much the same.

That means that you may count on a crossover that offers a high level of practicality. We like its spacious cabin, as well as the fact that the list of standard and available equipment is pretty long. Furthermore, both rows of seats are more than decent for this segment. On the other hand, the main complaints go to the engine performance, considering that the car isn’t particularly engaging. Furthermore, the ride isn’t particularly comfortable and struggles with road imperfections.

We expect that the 2023 Chevy Trailblazer will hit the market sometime in the second half of the year.

2023 Chevy Trailblazer Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2023 Chevy Trailblazer will continue without bigger changes. The styling will remain the same, following the brand’s latest design language. This crossover looks pretty attractive and it will look even more with the upcoming color additions. The next year’s model will bring the new finishes – Nitro Yellow Metallic, Fountain Blue, and Sterling Gray Metallic. Also, you may count on the new Iridescent Pearl Tricoat roof color.

In terms of mechanics, we won’t be seeing any changes. This crossover rides on the company’s new VSS-F platform and offers a relatively decent chassis and suspension setup. The Trailblazer is easy to drive, while handling is quite engaging. On the other hand, the ride feels too firm, even for those drivers who generally prefer a stiff suspension setup and sporty ride.

Interior

On the inside, you will find both good and bad sides. The first thing we should talk about is the interior space, which is pretty generous for this segment of crossover. The front seats are quite spacious, while the second row also accommodates two adults with ease. Still, we would like a little bit more support in the front seats. The driving position is good, while most critics praise its infotainment system, which is intuitive and pretty easy to use.

However, there are a few drawbacks as well. They usually refer to the overall interior quality, which isn’t bad but still feels a little bit subpar when compared to the competition. Most of the cabin is wrapped with hard plastics and similar materials, while we would also like to see a little bit more attention to detail.

The cargo area is also one of the strong points of this crossover. You may count on about 25.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats and 54.4 cubic feet of the total cargo volume, which is great for the class.

Features

Although there is always a chance to see novelties in terms of standard and available equipment with yearly updates, we are pretty sure that most things will remain unchanged. Therefore, the 2023 Chevy Trailblazer should come standard with goodies like remote keyless entry, a 7-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, two USB ports, satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo and a Wi-Fi hot spot. Also, count on upgrades like an 8-inch touch screen, wireless device charging, two additional USB ports, HD Radio, a seven-speaker stereo, automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, remote start, cruise control and a panoramic sunroof.

When it comes to safety, base models should come with a rearview camera, lane-departure warning, lane keeps assist, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, rear-seat alert etc. Furthermore, count on options like rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control etc.

2023 Chevy Trailblazer Engines

Once again, there are no bigger changes to come. We are about to see two familiar powertrain, starting from a smaller 1.2-liter turbo three-cylinder engine, which puts out around 137 horsepower. If you’re up for something more powerful, you can opt for a 1.3-liter turbo-three, which puts out 155 horsepower. Both engines come coupled with a CVT but the more powerful engine is also available with all-wheel drive. In that case, it uses a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Driving dynamics aren’t great in either case. On the other hand, you may count on pretty decent fuel economy. The base engine returns around 29 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway, while the optional engine is even better, with 29 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.
