Of course, count on a completely new styling, as well as on a new interior design, more standard equipment etc. Finally, latest reports suggest some interesting novelties under the hood. All in all, a lot of interesting things to come.
2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA Redesign
Judging on the new A-Class, this redesign is about to bring a lot of improvements. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is a new platform. The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA will utilize a new version of the company’s familiar MFA platform, which underprints pretty much all smaller cars from the famous German luxury carmaker. It will bring improvements in many aspects. First of all, count on much better efficiency, thanks to lightweight materials. With the new design, this small crossover will also features better aerodynamics, which is another important thing when we are talking about efficiency. Another benefit from a new platform will be ability to accommodate wider range of engines. This includes hybrid powertrains as well. So, count on hybrid version in the next few years as well.
2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA Exterior Design
The testing model has been spotted on the road already. Although still under a camouflage, we can easily notice its overall shape. It won’t feature too much different proportions compared to the original model. This refers to the ground clearance as well. That means that you shouldn’t count on any spectacular capabilities once you go off-road. This crossover is primarily designed to provide better comfort in city ride. In terms of the styling, the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA definitely won’t be too different from its hatchback sibling. Count on the pretty much same shape, including the company’s newest design language, characterized by cleaner lines, new headlights shape and much sportier bumpers. Of course, count on underbody protection as well. The rear end will feature typical hatchback layout, so expect similar cabin layout as the A-Class hatchback.
2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA Interior
Of course, this redesign will also bring a completely new interior layout. Once again, we count on a lot of similarities with the recently introduced fourth-generation A-Class. First of all, this means a completely new interior styling, particularly in the dashboard area. The new dash will set new standard among subcompact crossover, with super stylish look and hi-end materials. Of course, a new dual-screen layout dominates the dash. A digital instrument cluster and touchscreen are practically integrated, which makes this cabin look like jet plane. There is a fine amount sporty details as well, starting from the company’s recognizable round air vents.
In terms of functionality and practicality, the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA won’t be much different compared to the current model. Cabin dimensions won’t be too much different. In practice, this means pretty comfortable front seats. Rear seats will be relatively tight, which is pretty much typical for the segment. Another aspect that will bring improvements will be tech features. This refers both to the latest infotainment and connectivity and to advanced safety systems and driver aids.
2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA Engines
A fine number of novelties will come under the hood as well. We are pretty sure that the company’s new 1.3-liter turbo engine, which is developed together with Nissan and Renault, will find the place under the hood as well. This unit comes in two output versions, with either 135 and 160 horsepower.
A familiar 2.0-liter engine will carry on, but with a couple of modifications. A max output will no go around 225 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. AMG models will be in the offer as well.
The smaller GLA 35 AMG will feature a 2.0-liter turbo unit with around 300 horsepower. A more powerful 45 AMG version is also expected, with a max output of around 400 horsepower. All engines should be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA Release Date and Price
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA should have premiere this months. Sales should start a couple of months later, probably in April. When it comes to price, we don’t expect bigger changes compared to the current model, which starts at around 34.000 dollars.
