Hybrid
The same four-cylinder engine is supplying the hybrid system with power. However, a 2.0-liter unit, combined with an electric motor, will produce 315 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. An 85 kW battery is not only boosting the outputs, but also the fuel economy. This version will be in the market as the 2021 Mercedes Benz GLC 350e.
Diesel Engines
Powerplants that use diesel as fuel, will be available in three different configurations. Outputs are 160, 190, and 240 horsepower. The last one can speed up to 143 mph and it needs 6.5 seconds for 0-60 mph. Again, a 2.0 displacement is the choice of engineers.
2021 Mercedes Benz GLC AMG
There are two versions of the AMG brand for the compact crossover. Both GLC 43 and GLC 63 were available previously, but the carmaker beefed up the outputs for the new version. The 2021 YM is keeping 385 hp and 385 lb-ft, which is good for 0-60 acceleration is less than 5 seconds. Well, it wouldn’t be possible with a four-cylinder unit, so Mercedes replaced it with a 3.0-l V6.
Another performance-oriented crossover is 2021 Mercedes Benz GLC AMG 63/ In this case, the handcrafted unit is a V8 and it explodes for 470 hp and 480 pound-feet of twist. Max speed goes up and sprint time drops under 4 seconds. As you can guess, the price is at the level of premium full-size SUVs.
Of course, the AMG package brings a lot of unique upgrades for the GLC crossover. Outside, there are special grille, wheels, and many other details. Inside, high-quality materials will make you feel very comfortable. The compact crossover is not offering too much space in the second row, so if you need it, check out some larger model, such as GLE.
2021 Mercedes Benz GLC Pros and Cons
The only downside of any Mercedes product is the price. Besides that, most other things are ideal, or near perfection. The fuel economy could be better, but you are getting extra power, especially with V6 and V8 units. Drive modes allow you to select a type of ride that suits you best. The new MBUX system fixes all the lacks from the previous editions. Well, we will have to wait to see its downsides after some while in usage. Safety is at the highest level, and the quality of materials is extraordinary. Comfort, convenience, reliability… everything is there. But, the high initial cost and the price of optional equipment is the stumbling block for all buyers that can find cheaper models.
Prices
The base 2021 Mercedes Benz GLC will cost $42,500 without a destination. Some mid-size three-row premium SUVs are just a bit more expensive. So, if you need more space, you will definitely add about $3,000 for the Lexus RX. The hybrid GLC 350e model is above $50,000 and the AMG unit is out of sight for all fans ready to splash less than $60k. Top of the lineup trim, AMG GLC 63, with a V8 engine, 470 hp, and a price tag of $75,000 is one of the most expensive compact crossovers in the market. In this realm, you can purchase Infiniti QX80 with slightly less power, but a lot of space and towing capacity.
