This compact crossover has been around for just a couple of years, so we probably won’t see bigger changes for the next year. The 2020 Mazda CX-5 will most likely continue in the same way. As you probably know, the recent update has brought a new turbo engine to the offer. Considering that this carmaker insists on pretty short production cycles, we probably won’t see a typical facelift, especially if we consider that the current model is already one of the prettiest in the class. Most likely, the current version will carry on in the same way until a complete redesign. Therefore, don’t expect any earlier arrival of the 2020 Mazda CX-5 than usual. It should hit the market sometime late in the year.

2020 Mazda CX-5 Redesign
In terms of base design characteristics, the 2020 Mazda CX-5 definitely won’t suffer any important changes. The current generation is on the market for just a couple of years and there is no need for any modifications at the moment. It is based on the company’s newest versions of the famous SkyActive platform, which brings many benefits, especially in terms of driving characteristics. There is probably no other compact crossover among mainstream carmakers that offers such driving dynamics.
Besides obviously amazing driving characteristics, this crossover also offers plenty of style. Of course, it is based on the company’s famous KODO design language, which insist on sleek design solutions, which puts this crossover closer to the premium segment. The result is probably the best-looking exterior in the class. Of course, style always means a bit of a sacrifice, especially when it comes to practicality. The CX-5 is no exception.

2020 Mazda CX-5 Interior
The interior completely follows the stylish exterior design. This crossover features a pretty upscale cabin, which looks pretty stylish and features lots of top-quality materials. Even the most basic models come with things like leather-wrapped steering wheel, while seats are available in Nappa leather. Speaking of the seats, you can count on plenty of comforts at the front, as well as on great ergonomics.
On the other side, rear seats are quite tight. As we already mentioned, that’s the price you pay for the style. After all, those who are searching for something super-practical will not consider this one at all. Same goes for the cargo area. You can count on around 30 cubic feet behind rear seats and 60 cubic feet of overall cargo space.

2020 Mazda CX-5 Trim Levels
The only changes we could see in the 2020 Mazda CX-5 are new standard features. Still, even these changes will be minimal and the core will definitely remain the same, including the trim level organization. Therefore, count on same trims in the offer. Those are Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve and Signature.
The base Sport model already comes with a long list of standard equipment. You can count on things like 17-inch wheels, LED headlights, leather-wrapped steering wheel, push-button start, Bluetooth, 7-inch touchscreen and much more. In terms of safety, you can count on systems like Low-speed forward collision warning and mitigation and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
The Touring trim adds a lot of interesting things and seems like a version that offers the best balance between price and quality. Some of the notable additions are keyless entry, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, simulated leather upholstery, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto etc.
If you want to get some visual upgrades, the Grand Touring seems like a good choice. This one comes with bigger 19-inch wheels, LED fog lights and leather upholstery. Also, there are things like adaptive headlights, upgraded driver information system, driver memory settings, power-adjustable passenger’s seats, navigation etc.

Next in the line is the Grand Touring Reserve, which adds more powerful engine, as well as things like a head-up display, power-folding mirrors, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel etc.
Finally, there is the Signature trim, which adds things like ambient cabin lighting, premium leather upholstery, wood trim accents, a surround-view camera etc.
2020 Mazda CX-5 Engines
When it comes to powertrain, count on a choice of atmospheric and turbo version of a familiar 2.5-liter engine. Base models will be equipped with the atmospheric version, which is good for about 187 horsepower.
On the other side, an optional turbo engine is good for about 227 horsepower. Still, the output can go up to 250 hp if you use premium fuel. Both engines come paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
2020 Mazda CX-5 Release Date and Price
Considering that there are no bigger changes to come for the 2020 Mazda CX-5, we expect to see it on the market sometime late in the year. Also, don’t expect changes in price. Base models should go around 24.500 dollars.
