2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe review

Despite that sports cars are the first things to come to mind when someone mentioned this brand, the Cayenne is actually the biggest money maker for this German company. Introduced more than 15 years ago, this model is a synonym for a luxury performance crossover. So far, we have seen three generations of it. The current one came last year. It is pretty fresh, so we would normally expect no bigger changes for the second production year. However, the German carmaker things completely differently.

We are about to see a completely new version, which will come as the 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe. As you may presume, it will come with a new body style, which will resemble the shape of sports cars, something that has become very popular in the past several years. Other than a new body style, this model should be pretty much the same as the standard version, especially when it comes to mechanics.

2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Redesign

In terms of base design characteristics, the 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe will come with a completely different body style from what we have been seeing so far. Still, the overall design, especially in terms of mechanics, is about to remain unchanged. The new model will also ride on a familiar MLB platform, which is used for a whole range of luxury crossovers from the VW Group, including models like Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus, VW Touareg etc.

While the mechanics are about to be almost identical to the standard SUV body style, the styling will be fairly different. First of all, this is a completely new body style. The testing model has been spotted. It is still camouflaged but, despite the fact that the company is trying to hide its look, it’s not hard to spot its interesting sloping roof layout. While the front end is expected to be pretty much identical to a standard model, in a typical Porsche design language, the rear end will closely resemble the company’s passenger cars, especially new Panamera. This particularly refers to taillights. Therefore, count on a completely different roofline characterized a familiar sloping roof design and more horizontal hatch.

2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Interior

When it comes to the interior design, the 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe shouldn’t be much different compared to the standard model, at least when it comes to the front half of the cabin. Count on the same dashboard design, which came completely new with the recent redesign. It features a rather simplistic layout, in the company’s typical manner. All lines are horizontal and you will hardly find any nonsense when it comes to details. Of course, a large touchscreen dominates the center stack, though many controls remained physical. Despite all materials feature excellent quality, some rivals definitely offer more opulence.

When it comes to the second half of the cabin, a bit of practicality will be sacrificed for aesthetics. Due to a sloping roof, count on less headroom in the second row. The cargo area will be smaller too, though we must say that even the standard model offers below-average cargo capacity.

Features

When it comes to standard equipment, don’t count on too many differences compared to the standard model. In terms of tech goodies, you can count on things like 12.3-inch touch screen, 10-speaker audio, Bluetooth, USB ports, navigation, Wi-Fi hotspot, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay etc. Higher trims will offer things like a panoramic sunroof, premium audio systems, quad-zone automatic climate control etc.

In terms of safety, base models will come with a rearview camera and front and rear parking sensors. Available safety systems will be things like head-up display, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning and many more.

2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Engines

Count on the same engine lineup as for the standard model. Base versions will feature a familiar 3.0-liter V6, which is good for about 335 horsepower. However, the real deal starts with twin-turbo engines and there are two of them in the offer. The first one is a 2.9-liter V6, which delivers around 435 horsepower. The other one is a familiar 4.0-liter V8, which is good for about 550 horsepower.

Of course, we count on hybrid models as well. The current model comes with two of them in the offer. The first one is based on a V6 engine and delivers 456 horsepower. The other one is based on a V8 engine and delivers more than 670 horsepower.

2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Release Date and Price

The 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe should hit the market in the next several months. Though, we are still waiting for more precise details. When it comes to the price, we expect it will be slightly higher compared to the standard model, which starts at around 66.000 dollars.
