2023 Volvo XC60

The current, second generation of Volvo’s compact crossover has been around since 2017 and if we consider that Volvo models usually feature pretty long production cycles, it looks like it still has a few more years before it receives a complete redesign. The recent update is another reason why we believe in such a scenario. To remind you, the 2022 update has brought a lot of interesting updates, starting from a refreshed styling, new mid-hybrid setups, a new infotainment system etc. Therefore, we believe that the 2023 Volvo XC60 will be a typical carryover model.

So, you may count on a familiar design. This SUV has a lot of great things to offer, starting from one of the nicest cabins in the class. Furthermore, the seats are amazing, while the suspension setup is soft and all about comfort. Furthermore, the cargo area is quite spacious, while the engine lineup consists of several capable powertrains.

Considering the lack of changes, we believe that the 2023 Volvo XC60 will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2022.

2023 Volvo XC60 Redesign

Design-wise, we don’t expect to see any particular changes on the 2023 Volvo XC60. Simply, the recent update has brought a couple of interesting styling novelties, which made this crossover look fresher and more competitive in this highly demanding segment. So, the best we could see for the next year are minor tweaks in terms of new colors, visual packages etc.

The mechanical aspect of the car will certainly remain the same. This compact crossover rides on the company’s well-known SPA platform and it’s way more about comfort than athletic handling. The suspension setup is soft and offers plenty of comfort at all speeds, which makes this vehicle a perfect choice for those who are often on long journeys.

Interior

As we already mentioned, the XC60 features one of the nicest interiors in the class. The dashboard takes inspiration from the bigger XC90, and also features impressive build quality. Furthermore, the materials are pretty impressive, while the whole cabin looks airy and spacious. The front seats are massive and supportive, some of the best in the class. We also like the driving position, which is great both in terms of ergonomics and visibility.

The second row also offers plenty of space and accommodates adults with ease. All in all, this crossover can accommodate five adults in a pretty nice fashion, even though it belongs to the compact class. Besides plenty of passenger space, it also offers a good amount of cargo space. You may count on about 22.4 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 63.3 cubic feet of the overall cargo space, which is more than you get from most compact luxury crossovers.

Features

Additions to the list of standard equipment are always possible but we are pretty sure that the 2023 Volvo XC60 will feature a pretty similar list of features as the 2022 model. Therefore, we expect that all models will come standard with goodies like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch touch screen, Android Auto, a Google maps navigation system, Bluetooth, wireless device charging, HD Radio, satellite radio, a 10-speaker stereo, Wi-Fi hot spot, dual-zone climate control, panoramic moonroof etc.

Additionally, you can get upgrades like proximity keyless entry, quad-zone climate control, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon stereo or a 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins stereo, etc.

When it comes to safety, all models should come equipped with forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, rain-sensing windshield wipers and more.

2023 Volvo XC60 Engines

Things under the hood should change, so the 2023 Volvo XC60 will probably continue with the same engine options on the offer. So, base models will come equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which puts out 247 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This engine now comes in pair with a 48-volt hybrid system and it is known as the B5. The B6 also comes with a 48-volt hybrid system, while the rest of the setup is the same. We are talking about the same turbo-four engine, which gets help from an additional supercharge, which increases the total output to 295 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.

Finally, there is the T8 model, with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, based on the same turbo- and supercharged engine. The total output goes up to 400 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque. In the Polestar iteration, the max output goes up to 415 horses and 494 pound-feet of torque.

All models come equipped with 8-speed automatic transmission.
