Freshest memories about this military-inspired SUV lead us to the Hummer H3, which has been out of production for eight years. Many years have passed but people are still talking about the potential successor. The world met this SUV 26 years ago. In 1992, GM introduced an SUV that will later become known as the Hummer H1. For full 18 years, this nameplate was active. During that time, we have seen three versions of it. Of course, the H3 is the freshest. It ended production, as well already mentioned, in 2010.
Two years earlier, the company presented a new concept called Hummer HX. Most of us believed this is the new version of the famous truck. However, this model remained in a form of a concept. Soon after, production of the H3 ended and Hummer became history. These days, speculations about resurrection are becoming more intense, so many believe that GM is cooking something. At this point, it is all about rumors and speculations. There are still no word’s from the company’s officials.
2019 Hummer H3 Revival
As we already mentioned, the spirit of this SUV is still strong, despite the fact that eight years have been passed since the last model. This clearly confirms the theory form several car experts that the demand for potentially new version would be pretty high. Some independent car companies already developed a special version of existing Hummer models. For example, you can find the H1 model in a special version designed and produced by Mil-Spec-Automotive. This model comes with significant upgrades in all aspects. Mechanics have been completely reworked, as well as both exterior and interior design.
Finally, there is a huge 6.6-liter diesel engine with more than 1000 pound-feet of torque. So, if a small company like this one can do something with the 26-year old design, then why shouldn’t the company do something, if the interest for the new version is as big as it is presumed? At the moment, we can only speculate about the new model, so here are some of our prediction.
How the new 2019 Hummer H3 would look like?
Considering that there are still no official reports about the new model, we will call it after its predecessor. So, let’s start with the architecture. In the past, the Hummer has always been considered as a mid-size SUV, despite its heavy-duty shape and rugged look. So, there is no reason why the new model wouldn’t continue in the same way. The first thing that comes to our minds is Chevy Colorado. That is the model from which Humer would borrow the platform and pretty much complete mechanics. The popular truck is known for excellent off-road capabilities as well. That sound more than welcome, considering that the previous model wasn’t as capable as it looked like. Also, the new platform would provide significantly better efficiency, which was one of the H3’s weakest points.
2019 Hummer H3 Styling
In terms of styling, we have no doubt how the new 2019 Hummer H3 would look like. Count on a strong resemblance of previous versions, with pretty much same shape and styling philosophy. Still, we would probably see a bunch of new details that can clearly make a distance between older models and the new one.
Still, the much more critical is the aspect of interior design. This was by far the weakest point of previous generations. And by meaning this, we won’t debate about the cabin’s look and dashboard layout at all. The biggest problem was a super-tight cabin for such a large vehicle. Limited legroom and almost no headroom for taller passengers is the thing that GM needs to solve in the new model. Another big problem with all models from the past was extremely poor visibility. All previous models feature very small windows considering the vehicle’s overall size. These are definitely the biggest problems new 2019 Hummer H3 will have to overcome. Other than that, count on significantly improved aesthetics, as well as on latest tech features.
2019 Hummer H3 Engine
In the aspect of powertrain, the biggest problem with all previous models was poor fuel economy. Therefore, the 2019 Hummer H3 would probably come with something far more efficient. Considering that the new model would ride on the same platform as Colorado, count on some of its engines. Of course, a 3.6-liter V6 comes first to our minds, cause four cylinders doesn’t seem that likely. This engine delivers around 310 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque and comes with a new 8-speed automatic transmission. Of course, there is a chance to see GM’s new 2.7-liter unit, which delivers a similar amount of power but significantly more torque. This one is good for about 310 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque.

Keep in mind that the new Hummer is still just a speculation. Therefore, it seems useless to estimate launch date or something like that, despite the fact that some reports suggest its arrival already in the next year.
