Cadillac XT7 review

Cadillac continues to expand its lineup. Next in the line are two crossovers of similar size but with a different body style. As you probably know, the new XT6 has been spotted already. It will be a new three-row, probably mid-size crossover, designed to compete models like Lexus RX, Volvo XC90, BMW X5, and others. Soon after, we expect to see the Cadillac XT7, which will be its coupe-like derivate. This model is about to come with the same mechanics but different body style.

Most likely, this one will feature only two rows of seating and should feature a little bit more upscale cabin, with a batch of exclusive details. In terms of powertrain, two models should use the same engines, familiar GM units, both with six and eight cylinders. Though it is still early to estimate potential release date, the new Cadillac XT7 will most likely come in about two years.

Cadillac XT7 Specs

As we already mentioned, the new XT6 is in the late stage of development. As soon as it arrives, we expect to see its coupe derivate. This model will come as Cadillac XT7. In terms of mechanics, two crossovers will be identical. Both models will ride on the same, recently-introduced new version of the company’s familiar C1 platform. This architecture is quite modular, and it will underprint pretty much everything that is about to come from the GM’s luxurious brand when it comes to mid- and full-size cars and crossovers.

It is still early to talk about dimensions. Still, keep in mind that we are about to see a long-wheelbase of the C1XX platform, which means that Cadillac is once again about to come bigger than most of its rivals. For comparison, this version of the platform underprints Chevy Traverse, which is bigger than other mid-size crossovers you can find in the class. When it comes to styling, count on Cadillac’s newest design language. Practically, we are about to see the same front end that characterizes XT5 and XT7 model, just in bigger dimensions. This model, in particular, will come with sloping roof layout, as a direct competitor to crossovers like BMW X6, Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe etc.

Cadillac XT7 Interior

Considering the roof design, the Cadillac XT7 interior will definitely come with two rows of seating. Some kind of optional third row is possible but definitely won’t offer too much space. Instead, the company will focus on offering two very comfortable rows of seating and capacity for five people. The cabin will definitely be a strong point. Count on the Cadillac’s familiar V-shape dashboard design, full of top-notch materials and latest tech features. Speaking of the dashboard design, we count on the same approach that nicely combines digital and analog controls. A larger touchscreen would dominate the center stack, while the rest of the controls should be physical.

Cadillac XT7 Tech Features

Besides new aesthetic solutions, the Cadillac XT7 is also expected to come with lots of advanced technologies. The first one that comes to our mind is GM’s new Super Cruise, one of the most advanced self-driving systems in the automotive industry today. It operates in all speeds and works perfectly on any freeway. Another interesting feature will be a video streaming rear-view mirror. This feature isn’t that fresh. It is present in Cadillac models since 2015. Still, we expect improvement in terms of resolution and overall video quality. Also, it should become a part of the list of standard equipment already in base models.

Cadillac XT7 Engine

Expect a wide range of engines in the offer for this crossover. Of course, the offer would include both V6 and V8 engines. Base models should come with the company’s familiar 3.6-liter V6. This is one of the most-frequently used powertrains among all GM brands. For this occasion, it should come in a version that delivers around 335 horsepower, the same that powers base Camaro models. Mid-level trims will come with a more advanced 3.0-liter V6. This twin-turbo unit is very efficient, so you can count on 400 horsepower.

Finally, top-range models will come with eight cylinders. Count on the company’s new 4.2-liter twin-turbo unit, which debuted in full-size CT6. This engine delivers around 550 horsepower and impressive 627 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission should be standard, as well as all-wheel drive.

Cadillac XT7 Release Date and Price

The Cadillac XT7 is still far away from serial production. According to reliable sources, this crossover is still in an early stage of development. Allegedly, the more conventional XT6 is about to come first, and the Cadillac XT7 is about to come soon after. This would probably mean in about two years, roughly. When it comes to the price, the new model should feature price similar to its main competitors, which would mean somewhere around 60.000 dollars. Speaking of the competitors, those would be models like BMW X6, Mercedes GLE Coupe, but other mid-size crossovers as well.
