The refresh of Cadillac’s entry-level crossover has been delayed once again. Due to logistical complications, the 2023 Cadillac XT4 will carry on without bigger changes, even though it will represent the fifth production year of the current, first generation. Practically, the only changes we are about to see are new color options, where three finishes will be replaced with a couple of new ones. Other than that, we don’t expect to see bigger changes.
So, you may count on a small crossover that’s actually pretty generous with space. There’s plenty of passenger room, while the cargo area also offers respectable numbers. Furthermore, we like the long list of standard equipment, while the engine is decently efficient. However, the same engine can be pretty noisy on full throttle, while another drawback that comes to mind is the interior quality, which feels subpar when compared to most rivals in the class.
As there are no bigger changes to come, the 2023 Cadillac XT4 will hit the market at a typical time of year, sometime this fall.

2023 Cadillac XT4 Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the company planned a refresh for the 2023 Cadillac XT4 but eventually, that won’t happen. Instead, we will see a typical carryover model, with minor updates only. Those minor updates mostly refer to changes in terms of color options. Three colors will be dropped from the offer – Twilight Blue Metallic, Radiant Silver Metallic, and Infrared Tintcoat. They will be replaced with two new finishes – Radiant Red Tintcoat and Argent Silver Metallic.
On the other hand, the mechanical aspect will remain the same. This SUV rides on a familiar E2 platform and features standard front-wheel drive. Despite the dull steering feel, handling actually feels quite composed. The ride may feel too firm to some but things are much better if you opt for the adaptive suspension.
Interior
The interior feels like a mixed bag. On one side, there is plenty of room inside this cabin. With over 109 inches in wheelbase, it’s no wonder that there is plenty of legroom in both rows. Although classified as a subcompact crossover, the XT4 accommodates adult passengers in both rows with ease. The front seats are massive and supportive and offer decent comfort. We also like the driving position, whether it’s about visibility or ergonomics.

The cargo area is good for about 22.5 cubic feet behind the second row, which is pretty generous for the class. On the other hand, the total cargo volume of 49 cubic feet isn’t all that impressive but still feels spacious enough for most users.
On the other hand, the downside of this cabin is the interior quality. It’s far from bad, but it doesn’t feel as upscale when compared to rivals. The materials could have been nicer, as well as the build quality.
Features
The 2023 Cadillac XT4 will be a typical carryover model, so we don’t expect to see bigger changes regarding the standard and available equipment. That means that base models should come with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, a seven-speaker stereo, satellite radio, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, four USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Bluetooth, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, and proximity keyless entry. Among upgrades, expect to find things like a sunroof, a 13-speaker Bose stereo, wireless device charging, and navigation.
When it comes to safety features, all models should come standard with goodies like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, a rearview camera, rear parking camera etc. Many more things will be on the list of options, starting from automatic high beams, adaptive headlights, lane departure warning, front parking sensors, surround-view camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear pedestrian detection, head-up display, adaptive cruise control, parallel etc.
2023 Cadillac XT4 Engine
The 2023 Cadillac XT4 will continue with a single engine option on the offer. That is a 2.0-liter turbo-four unit, which puts out around 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Dynamics are generally OK but we don’t like the engine noise at higher rpm, when it feels loud and unrefined. The engine comes coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which does a pretty decent job. Front-wheel drive is standard, while you can opt for an AWD system as well.
When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, which is about average for the segment. Of course, models with AWD are slightly thirstier.

2023 Cadillac XT4 Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2023 Cadillac XT4 will hit the market this fall. Bigger price changes shouldn’t happen, so base models will probably cost around 37.000 dollars. Key competitors should be modes like Volvo XC40, Lexus UX etc.
