The Kia Soul has a lot of strong points and one of its main advantages is that this model actually stands between two hugely popular segments of today’s automotive industry. At the time this car was launched, such small crossover practically didn’t exist. These days, there are many of them on the market, but none of them hasn’t made such fluid transition from a hatchback to a crossover. This one still does it great. A decade of constant development made this car even better and you will hardly find such a small car with so many great features for such an affordable price. The current generation is on the market since 2014, but we have seen a facelift a couple of years ago. Probably the only big drawback so far was a lack of AWD layout. It looks like this will be changed as well, considering that many reports suggest the arrival of the 2019 Kia Soul AWD.
2019 Kia Soul AWD Design
In terms of base design characteristics, the new 2019 Kia Soul AWD probably won’t feature any notable difference compared to standard FWD models. This refers to both aesthetical and mechanical aspect of the car. The new version will come with a familiar boxy shape, which is one of the main reason for such great commercial success. Besides plenty of practicality, its look also comes with some very nice styling solutions, including the cues of Kia’s latest design language. Despite being around for almost five years, this model has been updated a year ago. The recent facelift has brought a lot of visual improvements. Some of the highlights are tweaked grille and bumper, more massive side skirts etc. Still, most of the styling solutions remained the same for these almost five years. So, we have no doubt that 2019 Kia Soul AWD will continue in the same way.
2019 Kia Soul AWD Interior
This aspect of the car definitely won’t feature any change for the 2019 Kia Soul AWD. Compared to pretty much all competitors, the Soul offers more interior space and that is one of its main characteristics. Both rows of seats are spacious and supportive. Although a subcompact car, it can accommodate five people without bigger problems, though four seems like a perfect measure. The overall interior quality is pretty good. Seats are very supportive, specially front ones. Despite the affordable price, the dashboard also features pretty solid quality. Of course, there are some surfaces that feature hard plastics, but the overall impression is pretty amazing.
Thanks to its boxy shape, the 2019 Kia Soul AWD will also offer an amazing cargo capacity. It offers around 25 cubic feet behind the rear seats, while the overall cargo volume goes up to 61.3 cubic feet. Still, the fact that rear seats don’t fold flat could be considered as a drawback.
Trim Levels
Another aspect in which the 2019 Kia Soul AWD will be one of the class leaders is the amount of standard equipment. At this point, we are not sure which versions will be available with the AWD layout. The current model comes in three trim levels – base, Plus (+) and Exclaim (!). The base model probably won’t be available with all-wheel drive, but other two should. So, you can expect things like 7-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, voice recognition, cruise control etc. A higher, Exclaim (!) model will add things like bigger wheels, upgraded interior, leather upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel, navigation and much more. Also, keep in mind that there are a plethora of optional packages as well.
2019 Kia Soul AWD Safety
Here we are with another aspect in which the 2019 Kia Soul AWD will be pretty strong. Compared to most rivals, this hatchback/crossover features better scores on crash tests. Also, there is a fine amount of advanced technologies in terms of safety systems.
2019 Kia Soul AWD Engines
The standard FWD version comes with three engines in the offer. Each trim level comes with a different unit under the hood. We presume that the company will design an AWD model for two higher versions, which indicates two engines in the offer for the 2019 Kia Soul AWD. Those would be a naturally-aspirated 2.0- liter unit with around 160 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque, and a 1.6-liter turbo inline-four, which delivers around 200 horses and 195 pound-feet of torque. The first one comes with a more conventional 6-speed automatic transmission, while the latter one uses a modern 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Both models feature a similar fuel economy, which goes around 25 mpg in the city and 30 on the highway.
2019 Kia Soul AWD Release Date and Price
The new 2019 Kia Soul AWD version should come by the end of the year. The exact price is still unknown but we can expect an addition of around 1000/1500 dollars to current prices. Therefore, the base 2019 Kia Soul AWD price will probably go around 22.000 dollars.
