SUV king of the road. That is the 2020 Bentley Bentayga. The most expensive, the most luxurious, the fastest model is about to arrive. Rare rivals can match the level of luxury the British carmaker is offering. The new Speed version will achieve 630 hp, which is just 77 ponies less than the SUV with most horsepower – Jeep Cherokee Trackhawk (707 hp). Well, the price is again stunning. If you think the Range Rover Autobiography came close to Bentley’s premium sector, the new 2020 Bentayga will show you were wrong.
Well, changes in the upcoming model are the PHEV model and Bentayga Speed performance-oriented SUV. Of course, the British carmaker and its designers will go around the vehicle to bring a lot of novelties. As always, the carmaker is not going to let us see this unique SUV before its premiere. Under the hood of the 2020 Bentley Bentayga will stay a W12 unit. European customers will find the SUV with V8 and diesel options.
2020 Bentley Bentayga Engines
The US version of the 2020 Bentley Bentayga will continue to use a 6.0-liter W12 engine. This unit is ready to crunch out 600ho and 665 pound-feet of torque. Bentayga needs less than four seconds to sprint 0-60 mph. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to all wheels. Just for the record, the towing capacity of the luxurious SUV is 3,500 pounds.
The company confirmed the 2020 Bentayga Speed for the next season. This is going to be a performance-tuned version of the premium vehicle. The same 6.0-l engine can create 630 hp and a top speed of this model is 190 mph. Upgrades such as ceramic brakes will improve safety.
What’s more, the new Bentayga is also going to get power by a V8 engine. In Europe, this is a 4.0-liter displacement and it creates 540 hp and 670 lb-ft of twist. A twin-turbo system needs just under 4,5 seconds to reach 60 mph, while the top speed of the SUV is 180 mph.
Finally, there is another V8, but diesel engine. In this case, the power output drops to 430 hp, but the torque rises to 665 pound-feet. The diesel unit is not beating max speed set by petrol engines, and the SUV will stop the clock at 168 mph. As you can guess, this engine will be available only in Europe.
Plug-In Hybrid SUV
The British carmaker is making another step in development. The new 2020 Bentley Bentayga will have a PHEV version with petrol engine supported by electric motors. According to available info, the SUV is getting the power from a 3.0-liter V6 engine. This is the first electric Bentley ever, and the company plans to build more of such cars in the future. Well, we are still missing a full specifications sheet. Fragments of this say the SUV will be able to run 31 miles by using only the electric power. Also, the battery will need 7 hours to recharge on a regular socket. Fast-charging stations drop this time to 2.5 hours.
2020 Bentley Bentayga Features
The standard offer of the 2020 Bentley Bentayga doesn’t mean the SUV is not expensive. A long-least of unique equipment makes the price start above $200,000. Such comfort and luxury are hard to find elsewhere. Bentley’s vehicles are not using only hi-tech options. There are also some details and branded items that raise the price and fulfill the expectations of buyers from the rich class. Well if you are looking for a vehicle for everyday commuting, off-road adventures, or for towing and work, then look elsewhere. The 2020 Bentayga is for showing off.
Standard infotainment equipment includes an audio system with 12 speakers and a Wi-Fi spot. Front seats are adjustable in 16 ways, while the interior holds 15 different types of leather. Well, there is still room for the update. Naim audio will add more power. If you really want to waste a huge amount of money, then you can purchase a Breitling clock. The cost of this add on is “just” $170,000.
Price and Rivals
The base models of the 2020 Bentley Bentayga will start above $200,000. Upper trim levels can go up to $300,000. Well, if you go after Breitling upgrades or Mulliner package, then prepare over $500,000 for this SUV.
There are no too many models that can be compared to the 2020 Bentley Bentayga. Well, when the SUV gets its PHEV variant, the competition is not going to exist. So far, there are few alternatives if you want to spend $200,000 for a luxury SUV. Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic is will cost as much as Bentayga. Its supercharged petrol engine can produce 550 hp, and the Range Rover also comes with PHEV engine. But, this one is less expensive. Lamborghini Urus is a true rival. Still, it lacks some high-luxury updates that will make its price go beyond reality if you think the $200k price tag is still a reasonable cost. Mercedes AMG G 63 and Maserati Levante are slightly cheaper options for high spenders. Ferrari could launch the SUV soon, and that would be a major hit for all premium SUV makers.
