The company’s biggest SUV is about to come without bigger changes next year. This model represents the Korean manufacturer in the segment of mid-size crossover for more than 16 years. For all these years, we have seen three generations of it. The current one is on the market for about three years and we’ve already seen an update. Recently, this three-row SUV received a bunch of novelties that make it even more competitive in such a tough segment. Among more important novelties for this refresh, aesthetical ones are definitely most notable. Besides new look, we saw some changes under the hood last year too. All this indicates that the 2020 Kia Sorento is about to come without more important novelties.
Bigger changes won’t come before the next redesign. For this occasion, the best we can get is a couple of new color options and a longer list of standard equipment. Expect to see 2020 Kia Sorento sometime late in the next year.
2020 Kia Sorento Redesign
There is no doubt that the 2020 Kia Sorento will continue in the same way. The recent refresh has brought a big amount of novelties. Of course, the focus was on the crossover’s visual appearance. Therefore, we saw many new details, especially at the front end. It’s not hard to guess that front end received most modifications. The updated model gets a new grille and headlights design, something similar to what we saw before on models like Forte and Cadenza. You can also notice a slightly reshaped front bumper, which comes with a couple of new, more angular lines, as well as with bigger air intakes and new foglights design. All in all, a pretty nice amount of changes. The opposite end of the car gets a new pair of taillights, along with several other details.
If we look at all these changes, it seems clear why the company is not going to make any more changes before a complete overhaul. This crossover will continue in the same way in the next couple of year. The 2020 Kia Sorento could possibly come with new color options and similar kinds of novelties, while the overall design is about to remain the same.
2020 Kia Sorento Interior
Unlike the exterior design which looks pretty amazing, the interior design of this crossover is a mixed bag. Still, we won’t see bigger changes in the next year, because all the drawbacks are more of a physical nature and there is practically nothing Kia engineers can do before the redesign. Of course, we are talking about interior space and overall practicality. Compared to other models in the class, this SUV features only 13 cubic feet behind the third row. Once you fold down second and third row of seating, the capacity goes up to acceptable 73 cubic feet. In terms of comfort, fronts seats are great and the second row is also pretty good. On the other side, the third row is cramped and definitely can accommodate adults.
Those would be weak points. On the other side, the cabin looks very upscale. You can see soft-touch materials all around, as well as a pretty attractive dashboard design. Also, the list of standard equipment is pretty long, especially in terms of tech and safety features and we could see further expansion for the next year. The current model already comes with things like a 7-inch touchscreen and smartphone integration are available already in the base model. In higher trims, you can get a bigger 8-inch touchscreen, premium audio system, navigation, wireless charging and much more.
In terms of safety, you can get pretty much everything that this manufacturer has to offer when it comes to advanced systems. Some of the highlights are things like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, surround-view camera, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and much more.
2020 Kia Sorento Engines
We saw one big change with the last-year update. An optional turbo inline-four engine is not available anymore. So, the 2020 Kia Sorento will come with only two engines in the offer. Base models will continue with a familiar 2.4-liter atmospheric engine that delivers around 185 horsepower. It may not be able to run this crossover very fast but definitely provide some pretty good mph ratings. Fuel economy with this engine goes around 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
For those who prefer something more powerful, there is a familiar 3.3-liter V6, which is good for about 290 horses. Besides plenty of power, it also features pretty solid fuel economy ratings, which go around 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
2020 Kia Sorento Release Date and Price
As you can see, there are no bigger changes planned for the next year. Therefore, we expect to see 2020 Kia Sorento’s arrival in the usual time of year, which would mean late 2019 in this case. In terms of the price, base models should go around 26.000 dollars.
