Despite extremely tough competition on the market these days, some models continue to ride for more than a decade. One of them is this legendary mid-size SUV. The current generation of the famous model, which has also been known as Montero in many markets, is in production for almost 13 years and it looks it will go on. Latest reports suggest the 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero will be in the offer after all. Many experts predicted its discontinuation years ago, you can still find it in some parts of the world.
The new 2019 year model came even with some updates, which clearly indicates that the company plans to produce it for some more time. Therefore, it seems very likely that 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero will be in the offer. At this point, we know for sure it will come to China, but few more markets seem possible as well.

2020 Mitsubishi Pajero Redesign
Classic body-on-frame SUVs are rare birds on the market these days. The same situation is in the lineup of this Japanese carmaker, which dropped not just these off-roads, but sedans and passenger cars as well, all in favor of crossovers. These vehicles dominate and the Pajero definitely looks like some relic from past times. However, the company still expect some profit from it, despite the fact that we haven’t seen too many changes since 2006. Still, the recent update has brought a couple of interesting novelties and 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero will adopt all of them.
When it comes to novelties, pretty much all of them are in terms of aesthetics. The new models come with a couple of new details that should improve visual appeal. The first thing you’ll notice is a new, gold lettering and band’s logo on the grille. A similar thing can be noticed from the side, though door letterings feature silver color. Also, the company introduced a few new color options and new wheels designs.
Seems like a modest update, but these subtle changes could slightly improve the model’s position and make it more popular in China, which will probably be the only market where 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero will be in the offer.

Rest of the design remains completely unchanged. Under the skin, count on completely identical mechanics that have been around for more than a decade. Same goes to body styles. The 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero will continue in two familiar layouts, with either three-door models with 100 inches in the wheelbase, or with a five-doors version in the offer, which features 109 inches in the wheelbase.
2020 Mitsubishi Pajero Interior
On the inside, this update has also brought a couple of interesting novelties. The 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero will continue in the same, so we could say a new touchscreen will once again be one of the biggest highlights. On the other side, the overall cabin design hasn’t changed for years. The overall quality is still on a decent level, even for today’s standard. However, it definitely lacks refinement, both in terms of style and materials, which are mostly hard plastics.
In terms of seating, short-wheelbase, three-door models feature two rows of seating, while bigger five-door model adds the third row as well. However, this third row is pretty tight and definitely can’t accommodate adult passengers. Still, this can’t be taken as a drawback, since we are talking about pretty common thing among mid-size SUVs.

2020 Mitsubishi Pajero Features
One of the aspects in which 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero will show its age is a list of standard equipment. The company hasn’t done too many things during this long production cycle, so base models are very modest and definitely can’t compare with younger competitors. Only in the top-level GLS trim level, you can get a relatively decent amount of standard features, things like leather upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel, touchscreen interface, body-color bumpers etc.

2020 Mitsubishi Pajero Engine
Once again, many reasons to complain. The engine in this SUV is neither powerful nor economical. You get an outdated 3.0-liter V6 engine, which features a max output of around 170 horsepower. That definitely isn’t an amount of power that can provide satisfying performance in a vehicle of this size and weight. Therefore, many reports suggest a newer version of this engine in the next year. It is a version that delivers around 220 horsepower, which definitely sounds much better. On the other side, an outdated 5-speed transmission definitely won’t change. The only great thing about it is that it sends power to all wheels.

2020 Mitsubishi Pajero Release Date and Price
Expect to see 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero sometime late in the next year. It should be offered in China, but few more markets seem quite likely as well. When it comes to the price, base models will go around 45.000 dollars. This will definitely be one of the last year models of the legendary Pajero. Don’t count on a redesign. The company is now focused on crossovers and we are pretty sure that a successor is not in Mitsubishi’s plans.
