Koleos is Renault’s largest SUV. It is 178 inches long, 3 in more than Kadjar. The company is updating the 2020 Renault Koleos. The facelift is the part of the mid-cycle update. The current generation was unveiled in 2016 and now it is time for bigger changes. Cosmetic restyling is not so big, though. New grille, larger air intakes and other parts around the front bumper, and chrome details are the most notable modifications. 3D effects for taillights are something new for the SUV. Stoplights are getting a new design.
Buyers will be able to pick a new exterior color – Vintage Red. Inside, the quality of materials is better. There is also a new look of upholstery and seat design. The infotainment system is R-Link 2 with a 7-inch display. Upper trim levels come with a larger screen and Apple CarPlay connectivity for iOS devices. Under the hood of the 2020 Renault Koleos, we will see new drivetrains. A couple of diesel engines are delivering 150 and 190 horsepower. The X-Tronci CVT is standard and the more potent powertrain is using an AWD only. The company will launch sales in October, with pre-orders already available. A full pricing list is still TBA.
Restyling, Exterior Changes
The 2020 Renault Koleos is the compact crossover SUV which arrived in 2006. However, the popularity started to grow when the French company signed a partnership with Nissan. This alliance makes Renault’s vehicles much more reliable. Koleos is kind of a rebadged version of Nissan Rogue. Both vehicles will be revisited for the new season.
Changes on the Koleos are the most visible on the front fascia. The new look of the grille will definitely draw attention. This move caused other changes up front, and we are getting a slightly smaller bumper and bigger elements surrounding it. Finishes are chromed, which is a novelty for 2020 season. Images that Renault released are showing the new alloy wheels.
2020 Renault Koleos Interior
As always, French carmakers are delivering very comfortable vehicles. There 2020 Renault Koleos is not going to be an exception. Still, some changes will make the crossover SUV more elegant. First of all, there is new upholstery. Designers prepared fresh designs of seats and dashboard. Still, a 7-inch display sits at the control panel as the infotainment system command center. If you choose some of the higher trim levels, you might find an 8.7-inch screen.
Apple CarPlay is an upgrade worthy of mention. Also, the Koleos is a five-seater and the company doesn’t plan to launch a 7-seat version. Instead, Renault is working on the driver-aid features, and that is the segment where Nissan is the leader in the industry. ProPilot is one of the best-known systems and its impact is clear for the Koleos. Renault confirmed their crossover will use a lane departure warning and automatic emergency braking.
2020 Renault Koleos Drivetrains
Koleos’ popularity is highest in Europe. However, the crossover is also available in a few Asian countries, and the new edition will expand the market. So, the crossover needs more engines to cover the needs of buyers in different regions.
We already mentioned there are two new configurations available for the 2020 Renault Koleos. A 1.8-liter dCi diesel engine is capable to produce 110 kW, or 150 horsepower and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. If this is not enough, the French company is ready to boost the offer with a new tuning of a 2.0-l dCi unit. Also, diesel mill is adding 40 horsepower (30 kW) more than the smaller displacement. However, the torque level remains the same. Finally, there is Renault’s legendary 1.6-l dCi with 130 hp. Buyers will choose between a six-speed manual gearbox or an automatic CVT transmission. The largest unit sends power exclusively to all wheels.
The new Koleos also keeps two petrol drivetrains for the new edition. The smaller engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder mill with 150 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. This one sends power through a CVT auto gearbox only to front wheels. If you want an all-wheel drive, you will have to pick a 2.5-liter engine. In this case, you are also getting bonuses – 35 hp and 30 pound-feet of twisting power.
Price and Release Date
The company announced a lot of details regarding the restyling of its largest crossover. Still, we are missing some of the most important info.
