If you look at the current model, it’s really hard to find too many drawbacks. This is one of the best compact crossovers on the market, which is exceptional in many ways, starting from the legendary Symmetrical AWD system, a long list of safety features, excellent sound insulation and many more. However, many complain about the current engine, which works great but isn’t the peppier unit in the class. That’s why many believe that the 2021 Subaru Forester could come with a more powerful engine in the offer.
The next year may bring several interesting novelties. We’ve just mentioned the possibility to see a version with a more potent engine. Some sources also suggest mid-cycle refresh. That’s just a rumor for now and we are still waiting to hear something from the company on this matter. Various reports suggest a couple of styling tweaks, as well as a couple of additions to the list of standard features. More details will be known soon.
2021 Subaru Forester Refresh
As we’ve just mentioned, some sources suggest that the Japanese manufacturer prepares a mid-cycle refresh for the next year. That would be one year before Subaru usually makes such updates but if we consider that this is the most competitive segment of the automotive industry today. That’s why 2021 Subaru Forester might come with a couple of novelties at the front, in terms of slightly revised bumper, grille and similar things. Still, keep in mind Subaru’s well-known conservative approach to aesthetics, so modifications will probably be minimal. On the other side, the rest of the vehicle should remain pretty much untouched. Still, we would probably see things like new color options, wheels etc. When it comes to the mechanical aspect of the 2021 Subaru Forester, we don’t expect to see any particular change for the next year.
Bigger interior changes are not expected either. The 2021 Subaru Forester should carry on in the same way, with a cabin that features a notably higher level of quality compared to previous generations of this amazing SUV. The new cabin looks really good and it is full of quality materials. So, there is no real need for updates at this point. Another thing we really like about this cabin is excellent sound insulation, which guarantees an extremely pleasant ride.
When it comes to interior space, both rows offer a pretty good amount of leg and headroom, so the Forester comfortably accommodates adults in both rows of seats. Things are even better in terms of cargo capacity, as this crossover features one of the largest cargo areas in the class. You may count on 35.5 cubic feet behind the second row, while the overall cargo capacity goes up to 76.1 cubic feet.
Another thing we really like about this compact SUV is a pretty impressive list of standard equipment. When it comes to tech goodies, base models are equipped with things like automatic climate control, a 6.5-inch touch screen, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, HD Radio, Bluetooth, and four speakers. Higher trims offer all kinds of upgrades. Some of the highlights are an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth hands-free text messaging, a six-speaker or nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a navigation system, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and two rear-seat USB ports. The Forester is also available with a panoramic moonroof, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
When it comes to safety, all models come standard with adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, pre-collision throttle management, lane departure and sway warning, lead vehicle start alert, and lane departure prevention. Furthermore, you can get things like blind spot monitoring, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights etc.
2021 Subaru Forester Engine
One of the biggest novelty for the next year could be a new engine option in the offer. The current model comes with a familiar 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit, which puts out around 182 horsepower. It comes in pair with a CVT gearbox. Driving dynamics are okay but many drivers would like to get something more powerful, something that can use the whole potential of Subaru’s excellent AWD system. On the other side, the thing you’ll definitely like about this engine is fuel economy. This crossover returns around 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. These numbers look even more impressive if we consider standard AWD layout.
For the next year, some sources suggest a turbo-four engine in the offer. Of course, we are talking about the company’s new 2.4-liter unit, which puts out around 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. This would be an excellent upgrade, but the company is still quiet on this matter.
2021 Subaru Forester Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2021 Subaru Forester will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2020. When it comes to the price, base models should go slightly under 25.000 dollars.
