The current generation of North America’s best-selling luxury crossover has been around for a while and it looks like the full redesign is on the way. According to the latest reports, the next generation will hit the market already in the next year, as the company wants to retain the model’s dominance in the segment. We expect that the new model will come as the 2023 Lexus RX 350 and there is no doubt it will bring a lot of big novelties.
At this point, we know for sure that the new generation will switch to the company’s new TNGA platform, which should significantly improve the ride quality. Furthermore, we count on the new styling, as well as on the new interior design. When it comes to the powertrain, we believe that base versions will carry on with the familiar V6, while changes are possible in the hybrid version.
We expect that the 2023 Lexus RX 350 will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022.
2023 Lexus RX 350 Redesign
The current generation has been around since 2015 and it’s time for changes. That’s why the 2023 Lexus RX 350 is combined all-new, with a full load of novelties. At this point, we know for sure that the new generation will switch to the company’s new TNGA platform. The new architecture will bring various benefits, starting from the lower center of gravity and significantly improved handling. Still, we don’t believe that the new generation could change its character too much. We expect that the new RX will also be mostly about comfort and a smooth ride.
Also, the new platform will open up some new possibilities regarding powertrain options. Toyota has announced its plan for massive electrification recently, so we wouldn’t be surprised if we see an all-electric version of this crossover one day.
When it comes to the exterior design, one of the first things that come to mind is the size. We are pretty sure that the new 2023 Lexus RX 350 will get bigger, particularly in terms of the wheelbase, which is pretty modest by today’s standards. Also, we expect that the RX L model won’t feature just a longer rear overhang this time, but also a stretched wheelbase. With such a design, it would provide much more space in the third row, as well as a more generous cargo area.
In terms of styling, we don’t expect to see radical changes. The overall layout should remain pretty much the same, which means a similar overall shape. On the other hand, the front end would feature similar aesthetics as the new NX, which more a little bit more conservative headlights design, along with the latest iteration of the brand’s well-known spindle grille design.
The RX has always been famous for its interior quality. Although it doesn’t look as flashy as German competitors, the current model’s cabin features nice materials and impressive build quality. Therefore, we don’t see a reason why the new 2023 Lexus RX 350 wouldn’t continue in the same way. We count on a similar approach, though we also expect a few more tech goodies on the offer. One of the things that come to mind is a fully digital instrument cluster, as well as a new infotainment system with a bigger screen.
When it comes to interior space, we presume that the new model will be more generous than before, especially the three-row version. This one should offer notably more space in the third row, thanks to the longer wheelbase. Also, we expect to see a bigger cargo area, as the current one features below-average numbers.
2023 Lexus RX 350 Engine
When it comes to the 2023 Lexus RX 350 powertrain, we don’t expect bigger changes. We believe that base versions will continue with the familiar 3.5-liter V6, which currently puts out around 295 horsepower. On the other hand, the current 8-speed automatic transmission may be replaced with the new 10-speed unit.
Other than the RX 350, the popular mid-size crossover will also come in a hybrid version. the current, system will probably be replaced with something newer and that could easily be a system based on a four-cylinder engine, with improved fuel economy and overall efficiency. Also, some sources speculate about the performance version of the SUV, which would probably come with a turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 engine.
2023 Lexus RX 350 Release Date and Price
We believe that the 2023 Lexus RX 350 will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022. We estimate that the starting price will go around 48.000 dollars.
