Recently, it became clear that this compact crossover will have to wait for another year to get a redesign. The 2019 Lexus NX 300 continues in the pretty much same way, with important changes. It is pretty much the same model as the original version, which came five years ago. Of course, there are some visual updates, but the core hasn’t changed so far. For the next year, novelties are minimal, in terms of a few more standard features and similar things. This should be the last year model to represent the current generation. The 2020-year model should come completely new.

In terms of base design characteristics, the 2019 Lexus NX 300 is pretty much the same vehicle as the one that came five years ago. It rides on the same New MC platform that was used for the previous-generation RAV4. It is a compact crossover that comes with a pretty common shape and features the brand’s recognizable design language, with well-known spindle grille and other familiar design elements. For the upcoming model, a few more color options are the only thing you can count on.

The cabin of the 2019 Lexus NX 300 is also a part that hasn’t changed over the years. You will find a familiar dashboard layout, with a pretty conventional styling and a nice amount of standard equipment. The interior quality is kinda a mixed bag. Some areas look very upscale, but you can also find a lot of hard plastics. On the other side, seats are among the bests in the segment. Besides excellent support and great support, you can also count on plenty of leg and headroom, another aspect where 2019 Lexus NX 300 will continue to be among class leaders. On the other side, the cargo area isn’t generous at all. You can count on 18 cubic feet behind rear seats. Once you fold them, the overall capacity raises to 54 cubic feet.

The trim level organization is pretty simple in this case. There is a standard 2019 Lexus NX 300 and optional F Sport trim. The base model already comes with loads of standard equipment. On the outside, you can count on things like 17-inch wheels, LED headlights, LED fog lights and running lights, keyless ignition and entry, automatic high beams etc. On the inside, you will find standard features like simulated leather upholstery, 8-inch touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, 8-speaker audio system and much more.

The F Sport trim comes with some very nice visual upgrades, including bigger wheels, bumpers, interior color schemes, sports steering wheel etc. Also, you can count on a sport-tuned suspension and unique gauges.

Besides these two trims, there are also several optional packages, with which you can add various kinds of features in terms of comfort, convenience, tech features etc.

Safety is another strong point of this compact crossover. Even in the base version, you can count on things like rearview camera, lane departure warning, lane keeps assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection. Optional safety features are things like bird’ s-eye-view camera system, parking sensors with automatic braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert etc.

The 2019 Lexus NX 300 continues with a familiar 2.0-liter turbo inline-four, which is good for about 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and delivers pretty decent performances. For example, this crossover needs around 7 seconds. This is slightly slower than most rivals. On the other side, you can count on very good fuel economy, which goes around 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. These numbers are definitely above-average for the class.

Besides gasoline engine, this crossover is also available in a hybrid version. It is the same system that was used for the previous-generation Toyota Camry, which is based on a 2.5-liter engine and delivers around 195 horsepower.

The base 2019 Lexus NX 300 will go around 36.000 dollars. On the other side, the F Sport trim will go around 38.000 dollars.

When will 2019 Lexus NX 300 be redesigned?

Most likely, the second generation of this crossover will come next year, as 2020-year model. Once again, it will be heavily based on the RAV4, this time on its newest version. So, you can count on the company’s new TNGA platform, which will definitely bring significant improvement in terms of driving dynamics. Also, the new model should come with more space on the inside, more cargo room and completely new mechanics. Expect to see some upgrades on the powertrain, which will provide better performances, mpg ratings etc. Most likely, the new generation will hit the market in the second half of next year.
