2020 Infiniti QX80 review

Despite various reports about the redesign, it looks like the current generation will carry on for a little bit more time. The 2020 Infiniti QX80 should arrive without more important changes. The flagship SUV of Nissan’s luxury division is on the market for 15 years. The current generation has been around for a while as well. However, we saw a major update last year, which brought some significant styling changes. This is the main reason why we believe that the next year won’t bring too many novelties. The overall design will definitely remain unchanged, in terms of the styling, interior design, powertrain etc. Still, don’t exclude possibility to see a couple of minor changes in terms of new standard features and similar things. Those definitely won’t be changes big enough to bring 2020 Infiniti QX80 earlier than usual. Expect its arrival late in the year.

In terms of base design characteristics, everything looks pretty clear for the 2020 Infiniti QX80. It will continue as a part of second generation, which came almost nine years ago. As you may presume, the QX80 is based on the legendary Nissan Patrol. Two models share the same mechanics, though the QX80 is characterized by more luxurious approach. Also, keep in mind that there a was a big facelift less than two years ago. For that occasion, the company prepared a lot of interesting changes.

Of course, the styling was on focus. Changes were numerous. The new version came with significantly improved styling, with a completely new front end. These modifications includes new bumper, new grille, new hood, completely new layout of front wings and much more. Rest of the SUV came with interesting changes as well. Of course, the Monograph Concept served as inspiration for these changes. When it comes to the 2020 Infiniti QX80, it probably won’t feature any important change, but could possibly get few more color options.

In terms of the interior quality, this SUV definitely belongs to the premium segment. Still, keep in mind that this is one of the cheapest models in the class. Therefore, a fine number of cheap-looking surface can be found as well. The overall styling is good, but the dashboard definitely shows its age. The recent facelift didn’t affect the interior design to much, so can easily notice some styling solutions that belong to another era of automotive industry. On the other side, comfort is on a very high level. The recent facelift has brought completely new sound insulation, so the 2020 Infiniti QX80 will continue with its super-quiet ride.

Also, seats are amazing. They are massive, supportive and excellent for long journeys. First two rows are very generous in terms of legroom, while the third row is typical for three-row SUVs and serves primarily to accommodate children. Depending on the configuration of the second row, the seating capacity goes from 7 to 8 passengers. The QX80 also features one of the biggest cargo areas in the class. You can count on around 17 cubic feet behind the third row. Once it folds down, the capacity goes up to 50 cubic feet. The overall cargo capacity goes all-away up to 95 cubic feet.

2020 Infiniti QX80 Features

Besides good quality, the 2020 Infiniti QX80 will be a well-equipped SUV as well. This particularly refers to tech goodies and advanced driver aids and safety features. All models come with an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, Bluetooth, four USB ports, satellite radio, 13-speaker Bose audio system etc. Higher trims add things like 15-speaker audio system, 120-Volt power outlet, wireless charging, Wi-Fi hotspot, rear-seat entertainment system and much more. Unfortunately, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are not available.

In term of safety, this year has brought a lot of novelties and we hope 2020 Infiniti QX80 will continue in the same way. Forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and pedestrian detection are standard features now. Surround-view camera and parking sensors are also standard features. There are several more available features, such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive headlights etc.

2020 Infiniti QX80 Engine

The 2020 Infiniti QX80 will definitely come with the same powertrain. Count on a familiar 5.6-liter V8 engine, which is good for about 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. It comes in a pair with a seven-speed automatic transmission and delivers pretty strong acceleration numbers, considering the vehicle’s overall weight. On the other side, prepare yourself for below-average fuel economy, which goes around 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.
