2020 Toyota RAV4 review

The RAV4 has been one of the most popular models around for years and that is for a good reason. We are pretty sure that sale in this year will break all records, considering that this crossover has been redesigned recently. The 2020 Toyota RAV4 will represent the second production year of the new, fifth generation of the company’s bestseller. Normally, we would expect no bigger changes in such a short period, but it looks like the company prepares something interesting for the next year. Allegedly, we will see a new engine in the offer.

Other than a new powertrain option, the 2020 Toyota RAV4 should continue in the same way, with a familiar design and features. Despite the new engine, we are pretty sure that the new model will come in the usual time of a year.

2020 Toyota RAV4 Redesign

Considering the recent redesign, the 2020 Toyota RAV4 definitely won’t feature any important change in terms of base design characteristics. With the recent overhaul, the new generation has become a much better vehicle in many ways. Of course, the secret is in a new TNGA platform, which made this crossover much better for driving. It handles better and offers much better driving characteristics. Also, the comfort has been raised to a higher level, especially in terms of ride quality, which is amazingly smooth.

In terms of the styling, the 2020 Toyota RAV4 won’t feature changes. With the recent redesign, this model has been adapted to the brand’s newest design language, which in case of crossovers takes a lot of inspiration from the company’s traditional SUV and truck lineup. The new generation looks meaner and feels an impression that it is much more capable. However, the reality is different and this is still primarily an on-road oriented machine.

2020 Toyota RAV4 Interior

Toyota made a huge improvement in terms of the interior design with the recent overhaul. The new model comes with a very upscale-looking cabin, which looks far better than before. The first thing that you’ll notice is a very stylish dashboard. It is designed in a manner of genuine premium cars. Most surfaces are soft on touch, but there is still a fine amount of hard plastics that keep this model in the mainstream segment. Considering all the given, the 2020 Toyota RAV4 definitely won’t feature any important change. Some of the possible novelties are new color schemes.

When it comes to practicality and functionality, you can count on a pretty spacious cabin, which offers plenty of legroom in both rows. Seats are pretty massive and supportive, designed for long trips. Interestingly, the cargo area is smaller compared to the previous generation, though still above-average for the class. You can count on 37 cubic feet behind rear seats and 70 cubic feet of total cargo space.

2020 Toyota RAV4 Features

In terms of standard equipment, things will remain pretty much unchanged in the 2020 Toyota RAV4. That means that base models will feature tech goodies like a 7-inch touch screen, a USB port, Siri Eyes Free, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot etc. Of course, higher trims will come with things like panoramic glass roof, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless device charging, 8-inch touch screen, navigation, four additional USB ports, satellite radio, premium sound system and much more. The current models come with Apple CarPlay, but not with Android Auto, which is one of the potential additions for the 2020 Toyota RAV4.

In terms of safety features and driver aids, this crossover is way ahead most of its competitors. Even the most basic models come with systems like automatic high beams, a rearview camera, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and driver drowsiness monitoring. In higher trim levels you can also get advanced systems like 360-degree parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, low-speed collision warning, rear cross traffic braking etc.

2020 Toyota RAV4 Engines

The current model comes with one gasoline engine in the offer. It is a familiar four-cylinder unit that delivers around 200 horses, which provides pretty decent performances. More importantly, it offers amazing mpg ratings. With this crossover, you can count on pretty impressive 26 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.

Some reports suggest that the 2020 Toyota RAV4 come with a more powerful optional engine. That would probably be a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which delivers around 235 horsepower.

Of course, count on a hybrid version as well, which will come without changes. The total system delivers around 220 horsepower and pretty good fuel economy. It goes around 41 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway.
