By Has the time for Sequoia’s redesign finally come? That’s one of the things that comes to our minds these days when we are eagerly waiting to see the new Tundra. Just like the pickup sibling, this SUV has been around for way too long, since 2008. According to the latest reports, the new model finally comes next year, as the 2023 Toyota Sequoia. At this point, the officials are still quiet, so you should take the following paragraphs with a big reserve.
At this point, we can only speculate about the new model. The company is still quiet but we know for sure that the new generation if it arrives, will stick with familiar design solutions. Once again, we expect to see a full-size body-on-frame SUV, which will offer plenty of interior space, impressive size, lots of features and new, more capable engine options. We presume that the 2023 Toyota Sequoia could arrive already in the second half of 2022.
2023 Toyota Sequoia Redesign
We have no doubt that this redesign is about to bring a lot of novelties. The current generation has been around for more than 13 years, so there is no doubt that the new iteration will bring significant improvements in all aspects. The first thing that comes to mind is the platform.
Once again, we expect that the 2023 Toyota Sequoia will share most of its parts with the new Tundra, at least in terms of mechanics. The new SUV will also ride on the BoF version of the company’s new TNGA platform, which will bring significant weight savings, which leads us to better fuel efficiency.
Compared to the new Tundra, we believe that the 2023 Toyota Sequoia would come with a little bit finer suspension setup, especially at the rear end. This should have a highly positive impact on comfort and overall ride quality.
Exterior
When it comes to the exterior design, one of the first things that come to mind is size. We presume that the new 2023 Toyota Sequoia could become even bigger. The outgoing model features 122 inches in wheelbase and more than 205 inches in total length, so you may presume how big the new model is going to be. Still, these changes won’t be significant and shouldn’t have a bigger impact on the overall functionality.
Of course, this styling will also bring a completely new styling. At this point, the details are still unknown but we presume that a lot of inspiration will be taken from the new Tundra. This particularly refers to the front end. The two models should share the front face, which will be bold and futuristic. The rest of the body will come in a typical SUV manner, though also in a bolder layout than before.
Interior
Big improvements are expected on the inside as well, especially in terms of the look and quality. Simply, the current dashboard looks very old, while most areas are made from hard plastics and other low-rent materials. These things should change with the new 2023 Toyota Sequoia, which should utilize much finer materials and feature better build quality. Of course, we also count on a lot of tech features that will, besides functionality, also make this cabin look more upscale.
Of course, the generous amount of space will remain one of the key selling points of this model. We count on even more space compared to the current model, which already comes with three impressive rows of seats and a capacity for 8 adult passengers.
The same thing is with the cargo area. The current model is already one of the class leaders, as it offers around 120 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.
2023 Toyota Sequoia Engine
Big changes are coming under the hood as well. Just like the new Tundra, the 2023 Toyota Sequoia will drop the current 5.7-liter V8 and replace it with a 3.4-liter turbo V6. The new engine features 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, which should provide notable improvements in terms of driving dynamics. We also count on a new transmission, on a 10-speed automatic gearbox.
A hybrid version is also in talks. Allegedly, the 2023 Toyota Sequoia will use the new system, based on a 3.5-liter V6 engine, with several electric motors, for a total output of more than 450 horsepower. More details are expected in the future.

Even though the officials are still quiet, we believe that the 2023 Toyota Sequoia could arrive already in the second half of 2022, with a starting price of around 52.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Ford Expedition, Nissan Armada etc.
