The Bavarian carmaker is expanding the lineup and, logically, the next one to come will be a new flagship model. It will come as the 2022 BMW X8 and it will bring another coupe iteration of BMW’s latest design language. The testing model has been spotted in Europe and it still wears camouflage. However, we are pretty sure that we know what to expect from the new model, at least when it comes to more basic things, such as mechanics, interior design, technologies etc.
Naturally, the new 2022 BMW X8 is expected to share most of its parts with the X7. The full-size SUV has been on sale for a while and it will serve as a basis for the new model. The two cars should share mechanics completely, including the engines. Also, we expect to see the same dashboard design and a very similar list of standard and available equipment.
The new model should arrive by the end of the year.

2022 BMW X8 Redesign
When it comes to base design characteristics, the 2022 BMW X8 will share a lot of parts with the X7, as we already mentioned. The first thing that comes to mind is the platform. Just like most of the lineup, this coupe SUV will also ride on the company’s new CLAR platform. We presume that the suspension setup will be pretty much the same as in the more conventional sibling, including the upgraded M-badged models. The wheelbase will also be the same, though we may see differences in terms of total length, as the rear overhang could be slightly shorter.
The biggest difference will be in terms of aesthetics. While the front end is expected to look identical, the rear end will come with that sloping roof design, which provides a coupe-like appearance.
Interior
When it comes to the interior design, the sloping roof will certainly make an impact on the overall functionality. On the other hand, the dashboard design and most of the cabin should look pretty much the same as in the X7. That’s definitely a good thing, considering that this SUV features a really nice interior, which combines conservative design solutions with really nice materials and impressive build quality.
The sloping roof will probably compromise interior space, as we already mentioned. This particularly refers to the cargo area, while there is also a chance that we won’t see the third row of seats as standard. On the other hand, the first two rows should offer the same amount of space and the conventional SUV sibling. This means plenty of space to accommodate adult passengers.

Features
We presume that the 2022 BMW X8 shouldn’t feature a much different list of standard and available equipment compared to its more conventional sibling. For reference, the current X7 comes equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless device charging, a 10-speaker stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio, two USB ports, navigation, a panoramic moonroof, quad-zone automatic climate control, remote start, proximity keyless entry, ambient interior lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a universal garage door opener.
Among options, there are goodies like gesture control, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound stereo, a 20-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround-sound stereo, a driving information recorder, a rear-seat entertainment system, glass interior controls, heated and cooled cupholders, five-zone automatic climate control, and a larger moonroof with LED lighting.
When it comes to safety features, we expect that base models will come standard with goodies like adaptive headlights, automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, speed limit recognition, front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a rearview camera.

2022 BMW X8 Engines
We don’t expect surprises under the hood. Therefore, base models should come with a well-known 3.0-liter inline-six, which puts out around 335 horsepower. If you’re up for something powerful, we have no doubt that the Bavarian carmaker will also offer its well-known 4.4-liter twin-turbo. The M50i model should feature 523 horsepower, while we also count on the Alpina XB8 model, which features 612 horsepower. All three engines will come with 8-speed automatic transmission.
There is also a chance to see a plug-in hybrid version in the offer. We count on the same or similar system that can be found in the X5 model, which combines the inline-six engine with an electric motor, for a total output of 389 horsepower.
2022 BMW X8 Release Date and Price
As we already mentioned, the 2022 BMW X8 could arrive by the end of the year, though we are still waiting to hear something from the officials. When it comes to the price, we presume that the base models would go somewhere between 80.000 and 85.000 dollars.
