BMW’s subcompact coupe crossover may not be the most practical model in the class but it still has a lot of trumps to attract buyers, especially with the new 2023 BMW X2 model. This model year brings the new GoldPlay package, which makes this small SUV even more appealing. This package brings exclusive styling details and features and it is the new flagship model in the lineup. On the other hand, the rest of the lineup continues in the same way, without more important changes.
This means that you may count on a familiar design, which offers a lot of great things. Of course, one of the things we like most is the driving experience, as this crossover offers pretty engaging handling. Furthermore, the cabin features great build quality, while the list of standard and available features is pretty generous. On the other hand, the biggest complaints go to the cargo area, which is notably smaller compared to the more conventional X1 model.

2023 BMW X2 Design
As we’ve just mentioned, most of the lineup carried in the same way, but the Bavarian carmaker also introduced a new version called GoldPlay. This model brings a decent number of exclusive features. The first thing you’ll notice is a slightly different front fascia. Furthermore, you may count on exclusive gold exterior details and exclusive color options, such as San Remo Green, Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Storm Bay, or Skyscraper Grey paint. Furthermore, this package also brings a couple of mechanical upgrades, a sport-tuned suspension with a lower ride height as well as a retuned steering system.
The rest of the lineup continues in the same way, with familiar styling and mechanics. Therefore, you may count on a familiar driving experience, which is one of the reasons why this crossover stands out from the crowd. It is pretty engaging and fun to drive and despite the body style, it rather acts as a hatchback.
Interior
On the inside, the 2023 BMW X2 also continues in the same way, with a familiar cabin layout. The overall build quality is at a pretty high level. The materials are really fine, and the attention to detail is also pretty impressive. Furthermore, we like the look of the dashboard, which combines conservative design solutions with modern tech features, which make the cabin look both elegant and modern.

In terms of the passenger space, the front seats are massive and supportive, with plenty of room for adult passengers. Also, the driving position is very good, both in terms of ergonomics and outward visibility. The second row is generous with legroom but taller passengers may have some trouble with headroom, due to the sloping roof.
For the same reason, the cargo area is notably smaller compared to the X1 and goes around 21.6 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 50.1 cubic feet. However, that’s still pretty good for the class.
Features
When it comes to standard equipment, this crossover stands pretty well. It comes standard with goodies like dual-zone climate control, an 8.8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 10-speaker stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio, navigation, Bluetooth and a USB port. Additionally, you can get goodies like a panoramic sunroof, wireless device charging and a Wi-Fi hot spot.
The same thing is with safety features. All models come standard with goodies like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, rearview camera, parking sensors etc. Additionally, you can opt for goodies like a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, park assist etc.
2023 BMW X2 Engine
The M35i has been discontinued, so the 2023 BMW X2 comes with a single powertrain choice. That is a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, which is plenty enough power to move this crossover with authority. Driving dynamics are very good, while you may also count on a pretty smooth 8-speed automatic transmission.
The average fuel economy goes around 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, which is quite typical for the segment. Models with all-wheel drive are slightly thirstier and return around 31 mpg on the highway.

2023 BMW X2 Release Date and Price
The 2023 BMW X2 is already available in many showrooms, with a starting price of around 38.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Mercedes-Benz GLA, Cadillac XT4, Audi Q3 etc.
