The current generation of Honda’s biggest SUV is getting close to the end of the production cycle. 2022 will be the final model year and after that, we are eagerly waiting to see the next generation. The new model is already is in development and while the company still keeps most details secret, we can predict some of the design solutions, especially if we consider the recently redesigned premium sibling, Acura MDX. The new generation will hit the market as the 2023 Honda Pilot.
From what we know so far, the new model will bring evolutionary changes, but with improvements in every aspect. It will be bigger and more spacious from the inside. Also, we count on a more upscale cabin, as well as on more standard equipment. On the other hand, the engine lineup is still a mystery. If we can trust reports, the current V6 will carry on, while there is also a chance for an electrified version in the future.
The all-new 2023 Honda Pilot should hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022.

2023 Honda Pilot Redesign
The 2023 Honda Pilot is about to bring a lot of changes and from what we know so far, it will follow the path of the recently redesigned Acura MDX. In other words, it will also grow in size, which promises improvements regarding functionality and practicality. We count on the same wheelbase as on the new MDX, which means additional 2.8 inches between the axles.
Naturally, improvements are expected regarding ride quality as well side. Unlike most Honda models, the Pilot has always been on the soft side, with the focus on comfort instead of precise handling and agility. Still, we count on slight improvements regarding stability, on a little bit less body roll, though we have to say that the current model is already quite good in this aspect.
Mechanical upgrades will come in various aspects, but we also count on new aesthetics. The testing model has been spotted on the road, but it still wears a complete camouflage. The only thing we can see at the moment is that the new 2023 Honda Pilot will be slightly bigger. On the other hand, the design language is yet to be revealed. We count on a lot of influence from the recently updated Ridgeline, which means a bolder, more SUV-like front face. The rest of the body should adopt bolder styling elements as well.
Interior
Of course, the upcoming redesign will also bring a completely new interior. It’s too early for details but we count on a completely new dashboard design. The current one features very good quality but somehow lacks an upscale look. That’s the aspect where we expect to see improvements. We count on fancier design solutions, as well as on finer materials. Of course, more tech features would make the cabin look even more upscale.

Speaking of the tech features, we expect Honda to introduce a new infotainment system, much better than the current one, which isn’t particularly intuitive. Of course, there should be more convenient features, as well as even more advanced safety systems.
The Pilot has always been famous for plenty of interior space and a high level of practicality. Considering that the new generation is about to feature a longer wheelbase, it can only get better. We count on three spacious rows of seats, where the last one should be quite functional too. The same thing goes for the cargo area, which should offer even more space than the current model, which is good for way over 100 cubic feet in total volume.
2023 Honda Pilot Engine
The exact details are still unknown but from what we can hear, the 2023 Honda Pilot will carry on with a well-known 3.5-liter V6 engine. Just like in the new Acura MDX, it will get updated. The max output will go around 290 horsepower and 267 horsepower, while we also count on a new transmission. That would be a new 10-speed automatic. Of course, the front-wheel-drive will be standard, while the AWD will be available.
Besides the standard gasoline version, the new model should also come in an electrified version. We expect that the company will offer a new, more efficient system, probably based on a turbo-four engine. The exact details are yet to come.

2023 Honda Pilot Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2023 Honda Pilot will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022. When it comes to the price, base models should go around 35.000 dollars. The competition in the segment is tougher than ever. Some of the potential rivals are models like Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palisade, Toyota Highlander etc.
