Although many reports suggested a mid-cycle update, the 2019 Audi Q7 is likely to remain the same. It looks like the company will leave bigger changes for a year or two and that the upcoming model is arriving pretty much the same as the current one. This isn’t a big surprise, considering that the current, second generation of this mid-size crossover is on the U.S. market for a couple of years.
It come with plenty of novelties, improved in many ways, compared to the original version, which was in production between 2007 and 2015. First of all, there is a new platform, the new exterior, and interior layouts, as well as numerous other changes. Of course, the engine lineup has been refreshed too, though there are just two powertrain options in the offer for this large three-row SUV. Some reports suggest a hybrid version for the next year too.
2019 Audi Q7 Redesign
In terms of base design characteristics, there is definitely no room for bigger changes for the 2019 Audi Q7 model. The current generation came two years ago. It rides on the company’s new MLB platform, which is in use for other large crossovers from the VW Group as well. The upcoming model is about to come in the same way, not just mechanical, but in terms of styling as well. This model looks pretty fresh. It came relatively recently with a brand-new styling. Just like pretty much every carmaker from Germany, this one also never makes radical changes. The second generation Q7 sticks closely to its roots and keeps pretty much the same shape as the original. Even the changes in dimensions are minimal, while a new design language brings a completely new face to this three-row crossover.
2019 Audi Q7 Interior
Once again, don’t expect changes for the third year of production of this large SUV. The cabin is about to keep the same layout, with possible changes in color schemes only. The first thing that you’ll notice in this model is a lot of hi-quality materials. You can see that the dashboard is completely covered with soft-touch materials, as well as that seats are well designed and provide excellent support and overall comfort. This model comes with three rows of seating and capacity for seven passengers already in the base version. First two rows are very generous in terms of space, while the third one is a little bit cramped. The cargo area is definitely a weak point of this crossover and it offers less room than most competitors. You can count on 37.5 cubic feet behind the third row, while the overall capacity goes around 71.5 cubic feet.
2019 Audi Q7 Trim Levels
The 2019 Audi Q7 will continue with same three trim levels in the offer. Those are Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. Keep in mind that this is a luxury crossover, so even most basic models features things like leather upholstery, tri-zone climate control, 7-inch touchscreen, parking sensors, forward collision warning with automatic braking, rearview camera etc. A mid-grade Premium Plus trim adds lots of interesting things. Some of the highlights are bigger touchscreen, upgraded audio system, smartphone integration, rear cross traffic alert etc. Finally, there is a Prestige trim, with standard features like four-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seat, and virtual cockpit system. You can also count on things like head-up display, 360-degree camera, 19-speaker Bose audio system and much more.
2019 Audi Q7 Engines
We definitely won’t see changes in this aspect. The 2019 Audi Q7 is about to continue with two familiar engines in the offer for the U.S. market. Outside North America, the offer is wider and includes diesel engines as well.
The base engine for this large crossover is a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine, which is good for about 250 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. Seems like a pretty decent amount of power.
If you want better performances, there is a familiar 3.0-liter V6. This one features a max output of 330 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. In both cases, you can count not only on refined ride, but on a good fuel economy as well. This especially refers to a four-cylinder engine, which returns around 19 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway.
As we already mentioned, diesel engines are available outside North America. You can go for either familiar 3.0-liter six-cylinder TDI, or for a mighty V8 TDI that powers hi-performance SQ7 model and delivers amazing 430 horses and 660 pound-feet of torque.
2019 Audi Q7 Release Date and Price
Expect to see 2019 Audi Q7 by the end of the year. The price should remain the same, which means in a range between 50.000 and 57.000 dollars, roughly. Competition in the segment is pretty tough. Some of the key rivals are models like BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Lexus RX, Acura MDX etc.
