2020 Honda Crosstour review

The original Crosstour was in production for almost six years and it never managed to make some decent sales numbers, so its discontinuation was pretty much a certain thing. The original model came in 2009, while production ended three years ago. This crossover was designed to compete with models like Subaru Outback. However, it had a solid amount of drawbacks and that is the main reason for its success.

The biggest complaints were about its styling and rear end layout, which was neither pretty nor practical. However, various reports about its comeback have been circulating these days. Allegedly, the Japanese manufacturer wants to take another shot with this model and to fix all the issues that characterized the previous model. So far, we haven’t got any word from the officials, so keep all the following info with a big dose of a reserve.

2020 Honda Crosstour Redesign

In terms of base design characteristics, we are pretty sure that Honda won’t go far away from the previous model. The original Crossover was heavily based on the legendary sedan Accord. More precisely, it shared most of its parts with the eight generation of the iconic nameplate. So, there is no reason why the new model should be based on the current, tenth generation of the Accord. This model has been around for a couple of year and delivers spectacular quality. We have no doubt that the new 2020 Honda Crosstour would use the same mechanics and pretty much same proportions. We expect the same wheelbase, but more inches in overall length due to a different body style.

2020 Honda Crosstour Styling

In terms of the styling, we have no doubt that the new 2020 Honda Crosstour will be based on the Accord. Front ends of these two models should be identical. Count on the same design language, which characterizes pretty much all newer models from this carmaker. On the other side, rest of the of the body will come in a little bit different layout. Just like the original model, it will feature some kind of crossover/wagon body style, with long and spacious cargo area and high ground clearance. It is pretty much the shape that characterizes the legendary, undisputed class-leader Subaru Outback, as well as models like Toyota Venza. We hope that Honda engineers will design the rear end better, with more vertical hatch doors, which would provide more practical and more spacious cargo volume.

2020 Honda Crosstour Interior

On the inside, we count on a familiar two-row seating configuration, with lots of leg and headroom, and even more cargo space. In terms of the interior styling, we expect that the 2020 Honda Crosstour will be pretty much the cloned Accord, at least when it comes to the dashboard design. The means nothing but good things. The current generation of the famous sedan is characterized by lots of high-grade soft-touch materials. Moreover, the center stack looks more like a premium than a mainstream car. All in all, the new 2020 Honda Crosstour should deliver nothing less than amazing interior quality.

2020 Honda Crosstour Features

Along with the high-quality materials inside the cabin, the 2020 Honda Crosstour will also come with plenty of standard equipment. This particularly refers to technology and advanced safety systems. Base models should feature things like a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, USB ports, smartphone integration etc. Higher trims should add things like the 8-inch touchscreen, an eight- or 10-speaker audio system, HD Radio, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.

In terms of safety features, count on a very long list of advanced systems. Even basic models should be equipped with things like collision mitigation braking, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims should add blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and similar things.

2020 Honda Crosstour Engines

Although it is still early for predictions, we are pretty sure that both turbo-fours from the Accord will be in the offer. Base models should feature a smaller 1.5-liter engine with around 192 hp, while a bigger 2.0-liter unit will be reserved for more expensive versions. This unit is good for about 250 horsepower. Besides plenty of power, these two engines also offer pretty amazing fuel economy. Speaking of the fuel economy, there is a big chance to see a hybrid version in the offer as well. We count on a familiar system with twin electric motors, which delivers a max power around 212 hp, as well as amazing fuel economy.

2020 Honda Crosstour Release Date and Price

Allegedly, the new 2020 Honda Crosstour will come sometime in the next year. Still, keep in mind that the new model is just a rumor at the moment and that we are still waiting for the official confirmation. If it arrives, we presume that base versions will go under 30.000 dollars.
