2020 Infiniti QX50 Engine, Specs
Nissan and Infiniti’s engineers made an old engine look young. Variable compression is something that will make a turbocharged mill more efficient. By changing the stroke of pistons, the engine boosts overall performance in every segment. We can say this is an advanced technology that was available on 2019 QX50 for the first time. Of course, the same system will power the next model.
The 2020 Infiniti QX50 will get a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine with this VC technology. The system develops 270 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. Combined gas mileage of this unit is 27 mpg for front-wheel drive mode. The all-wheel drive consumes slightly more gasoline, but the change is trivial. A smooth CVT is paired with the powertrain and the QX50 is able to tow 3,000 pounds.
Electric Drivetrain and Sport Inspiration Concept
The latest auto show in Detroit unveiled an all-new electric SUV concept by Infiniti. But, when we take a look at QX Sport Inspiration platform it seems to be too futuristic. Still, it will be a good base for electrification of the new 2020 Infiniti QX50. Details were not unveiled, but rumors are whispering that the electric SUV could offer a range of 300 miles. Still, a good network and advanced systems of recharging are needed. So, the Sport Inspiration concept won’t head into production so soon. On the other hand, the new QX50 could use some technologies from its new sibling.
Autonomous Drive
Some Nissan and Infiniti vehicles are already using self-driving features. Well, the ProPilot system is still at level 1 of the autonomous driving pyramid. The new 2020 Infiniti QX50 could move it up to levels 2 or 3. Nissan Rogue and Nissan Leaf are using the most features we can call a self-driving. Speed and distance control with help by sensors are already available. Change of line needs the minimum intervention of a driver. The next step of the autonomous drive includes auto parking and more freedom in the drive for this system. Well, Tesla is a leader in this segment and it still sits at level 3 of self-driving modes. No vehicle is using levels 4 or 5, where driver’s reactions are almost at zero percent.
2020 Infiniti QX50 Trim Levels, Features
The new 2020 Infiniti QX50 will continue to use the same trim levels as its predecessor. Well, the ProPilot is definitely a highlight of this crossover SUV. Still, Infiniti offers plenty of other cool features. The interior comfort receives the praise of all owners. Rear seats can slide or recline. If you need more space, you can just fold them.
