2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT redesign

Jeep Grand Cherokee is the flagship model. It offers a lot of options for build and there are more of them yet to come. Whatsoever, one of the most exciting models will still be the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. A powerful V8 engine is delivering a lot of torque and horses. Still, it is not the most potent in the lineup. Out of this league is the Trackhawk edition with Hellcat engine.

Changes for the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT are going to be very interesting. The same engine is under the hood and some reports say the company will tune it to deliver 500 hp. On the other hand, the redesign of the new Grand Cherokee will offer a new shape and the look of the mid-size SUV.

Furthermore, the SRT package is not all about the drivetrain. Special cosmetic upgrades are making this model stand out. For the next season, the SUV is coming even more aggressive. That is not all. The interior of the Grand Cherokee is getting a third row of seats for the first time. The FCA is moving Dodge Durango to the body-on-frame platform, which leaves more space for the Grand Cherokee and all its versions, including the high-performance SRT.

Possible Name Change

Fun fact: Jeep Grand Cherokee is the only non-Dodge model with the SRT badge. Well, in the future, the company is considering the renaming of this model. According to rumors, all performance-oriented SUVs are going to be Trackhawk editions. Well, this one already exists and it is the top model in the lineup with 707 horsepower. We don’t believe the FCA is cutting the Hemi engine and makes a gap between lighter V8 and supercharged 6.2-liter unit. For now, the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is here. When the SUV enters the new generation, we will see if it is still there.

2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Upgrades

The main highlight of the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is its drivetrain. But, we will review the specs sheet later. Besides the engine, the SRT package also adds 20-inch wheels and you can choose between satin and black satin design. Ten colors are available with the SRT package. The only one that costs extra is a three-coat Ivory paint. Others are either metallic, coat, or double-coat. Additionally, you can install high-performance Brembo brakes for around $1,300.

Interior

Leather seats and upholstery is standard inside the SRT model. Unique buckets come in black or brown color. Optionally, buyers can pay more to get Laguna leather. Uconnect 4C is standard and it brings navigation on the 8.4-inch touchscreen display. There you can read the required information about audio tracks, or control the climate. SiriusXM is coming with the 12-month trial. Voice commands are available for hands-free calling, or radio controls.

Advanced navigation is easy to use and 3D landmarks are something special the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT has to offer. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also there. Jeep also offers immediate purchase of SiriusXM audio. An optional upgrade is the dual-panel panoramic moonroof. Unique suede and headliner will provide isolation from the exterior noise.

High-Performance Three-Row SUV

The new SRT model will offer seven seating spots in the all-new three-row layout. The mid-size SUV is big enough to take the extra bench at the back and leave enough space for passengers in the first two rows. This move is caused by the move of Dodge Durango to the body-on-frame platform. Now, Grand Cherokee is the only mid-size model using a unibody architecture, and it didn’t have a three-row version. From 2020 season and on, get used to this version as well. And, it will also be available for the SRT package.

2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Specs

Hemi engine is the power source for the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. It is the largest engine FCA is currently using. A 6.4-liter displacement is powerful enough to create enough power for pickup trucks and big SUVs. For the SRT configuration, engineers tuned the drivetrain to deliver 475 hp and 470 pound-feet of torque. This is enough for a sprint to 60 mph in less than five seconds.

Engineers don’t want to stop there. We can hear that improvements are on the way. The new version of the SRT SUV will get closer to 500 horsepower. Also, the torque boost will make the vehicle accelerate faster, so the time for 0-60 mph sprint is going to drop under 4.5 seconds.

Such power and luxury have its price. The Grand Cherokee SRT is a mid-size model, but its MSRP is in the luxury segment. The base model costs just above $70,000. Add a unique Ivory three-coat color, Brembo brakes, and Laguna leather upholstery, and you are above $80k. fully-loaded SRT version can cost just under $90,000. That is the area where the offer for the Trackhawk edition with 707 horsepower starts.
