Everyone agrees that Acura did a fantastic job with the all-new third generation of its popular compact crossover. Great critics and high demand is clear proof. The original RDX came eleven years ago. So far, we have seen three generations of it. The third generation came recently, as a 2019-year model. Therefore, it would be logical to see 2020 Acura RDX without bigger changes. Still, we will leave a little space for potential novelties. This won’t be just in terms of a few more standard features and color options.
The new model came with only one powertrain choice, so it would be nice to see an option. Some reports even suggest a hybrid version, which seems logical. In terms of base design characteristics, the 2020 Acura RDX definitely won’t change. So, count on a familiar attractive styling, spacious and practical cabin, as well as on plenty of luxury.
2020 Acura RDX Redesign
The 2020 Acura RDX will represent the second production year of the new, third-generation model, which came about six months ago. Therefore, no one expects bigger changes in terms of base design characteristics. There is a new architecture, which brings a lot of improvements in all aspects. The new model is lighter and quicker. The handling is amazing, especially if you choose an optional Super Handling-All Wheel Drive, which makes this compact crossover spectacular in corners. Excellent agility is followed by a high level of comfort, which is the reason why the new generation has been already considered one of the best luxury crossovers around. Things sound even more amazing once you realize that Acura key models quite affordable price. All in all, this aspect shouldn’t bring any important novelty, except a few more color options in the offer.
2020 Acura RDX Interior
Previous generations of the RDX have been criticized for the interior quality, which didn’t have that premium flavor. It looks like the company put a lot effort on making this right. So, the new cabin comes with significant improvements in terms of materials quality. The dashboard looks pretty attractive and, more importantly, features hi-grade materials. The new cabin is not just luxurious, it is also very spacious and extremely practical. One of the first things that you’ll notice is that seats are just amazing. They are massive and provide excellent support.
Also, there is plenty of legroom in both rows, so the 2020 Acura RDX will definitely be able to accommodate five tall passengers without bigger problems. Also, you can count on a high level of practicality, since there are numerous storage compartments, cup holders and similar things. The 2020 Acura RDX should come with a few more standard features in the offer, but we doubt that the trim level organization will be changed.
We are pretty sure that the 2020 Acura RDX will continue with familiar trim levels – base, Technology, A-Spec, and Advance. Each trim should get a couple of novelties next year, but the core will definitely remain the same.
Already the base RDX will come with a quite long list of standard equipment. You can count on large 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and a panoramic sunroof. On the inside, this version is equipped with dual-zone climate control, 10.2-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, 9-speaker audio system, power liftgate, heated and power adjustable front seats, keyless ignition, and entry and much more. Also, keep in mind that all RDX models are equipped with AcuraWatch suite of safety systems. It includes things like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist etc.
Stepping up to the Technology, trim and you get things like leather upholstery, navigation, 12-speaker audio system, parking sensors, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring etc.
The 2020 Acura RDX A-Spec will come lots of visual upgrades, which provide a sportier look. Among numerous upgrades, count on bigger 20-inch wheels as well. There is also some nice additions on the inside, such as a 16-speaker audio system, and ventilated seats.
Finally, the Advance trim adds standard features like head-up display, upgraded power-adjustable front seats, a heated steering wheel etc. Also, count on adaptive suspension and additional sound isolation.
2020 Acura RDX Engine
According to some reports, the 2020 Acura RDX will come with a new powertrain. Allegedly, the company will introduce an all-new hybrid system, though more precise details are still unavailable. On the other side, a super-efficient 2.0-liter turbo inline-four will carry on. It delivers around 270 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque and comes paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. As we already mentioned, a new version of the famous SH-AWD system is available and it makes this crossover one of the most driveable models in the class.
2020 Acura RDX Release Date and Price
We don’t count on bigger changes for the 2020 Acura RDX. Therefore, it shouldn’t arrive before the last quarter of next year. Base models will go around 38.000 dollars.
