In the past few years, mainstream crossover became the most popular segment in the automotive industry. So, frequent updates seem like a natural thing. The Equinox is Chevy’s player in the segment of compact crossovers. So far, we have seen three generations of it. The current model has been around for less than two years. Normally, we wouldn’t expect to see bigger updates in the next couple of years. However, things are pretty hot in this segment, so GM will do a mid-cycle refresh already in the next year, for the 2020 Chevy Equinox. Allegedly, we are about to see a whole palette of changes, starting from some work on the styling. Besides novelties in terms of the exterior design, we will also see a nice number of changes on the inside.
On the other side, powertrain lineup should remain the same, with three familiar units in the offer. Considering that we are about to see a major update, expect Equinox’s arrival a little bit earlier than usual.

2020 Chevy Equinox Changes
These mid-cycle refreshes are largely about aesthetical improvements and the 2020 Chevy Equinox shouldn’t be an exception. This should be a classic facelift, so count on lots of modifications to the exterior design. In terms of base design characteristics, though, next year won’t bring more important changes. This small crossover will continue to ride on a familiar D2 platform, sharing mechanics with the GMC Terrain almost entirely. On the other side, we count on a lot of work on sheet metal.
The current model follows the brand’s latest design language. However, it looks a little bit conventional, so Chevy could spice up things for a bit. Of course, the focus will be on the front end. In this area, we expect to see a lot of work on the grille, bumper and maybe on headlights as well. Rear end probably won’t suffer that much, but a nice number of subtle changes seems likely. Rest of the vehicle should remain the same, though we count on new wheels designs and few more color options in the offer.

2020 Chevy Equinox Interior
When it comes to the interior design, we hope that Chevy engineers realize that there is a lot of work to be done with this update. The current model features a cabin that is full of cheap materials, especially hard plastics. In terms of interior style and refinement, it definitely can’t compete with class leaders. Therefore, we are pretty sure that the dashboard will come with lots of revisions, especially in terms of new materials. Of course, count on more standard features as well.
On the other side, there are few drawbacks that can’t be changed with this update. This primarily refers to the cargo area, which is smaller compared to most other crossovers in the class. You can count on 30 cubic feet behind rear seats and 63 cubic feet of overall capacity.

2020 Chevy Equinox Features
Of course, this mid-cycle refresh should bring novelties in terms of standard equipment as well. Still, we must say that the current model already features a pretty long list of features, even in most basic versions, particularly in terms of tech goodies. You can count on things like a 7-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, USB, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and much more.
In higher trims, you can get even more. Some of the highlights are a bigger 8-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, premium Bose audio system, panoramic sunroof etc.
In terms of safety, all Equinox models will come equipped with the Teen Driver System and a rearview camera. Advanced safety systems and driver aids like adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera, rear parking sensors, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, a safety alert seat, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, forward collision warning and other are available in higher trims.

2020 Chevy Equinox Engines
Three familiar units will carry on and find their place under the 2020 Chevy Equinox as well. Base models will continue with a 1.5-liter turbo inline-four, which delivers around 170 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque. An optional 2.0-liter turbo-four delivers around 252 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, which makes this crossover one of the most powerful models in the class. If you are more for something economical, a great thing about 2020 Chevy Equinox will be its diesel option. Of course, we are talking about a 1.6-liter turbodiesel that delivers around 138 horsepower and guarantees 28 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway.

2020 Chevy Equinox Release Date and Price
A major update usually means an earlier arrival. Therefore, we expect to see the 2020 Chevy Equinox sometime in the third quarter of next year. We are pretty sure that Chevy won’t make bigger changes in terms of the price. Base models should be available at around 24.000, while top-range version will go up to around 36.000 dollars.
