After an almost decade-long production, the original version of the popular compact crossover has been finally replaced last year. The second generation came with a fine amount of novelties, especially in terms of drive quality and comfort. Considering that the 2020 Audi Q5 will represent the third production year of the second generation, we don’t expect to see bigger changes, especially if we consider that a new, performance version came recently. The next year could possibly bring few more standard features in the offer, as well as a few more color options. Rest of the crossover should remain unchanged. Expect to see it sometime late in the year.

2020 Audi Q5 Redesign
In terms of base design characteristics, the Q5 is a typical compact crossover. Class-average dimensions and a pretty common, SUV-ish shape are something you can count on from this model. As we already mentioned, the original model was in production for almost a decade. However, the new generation didn’t bring some radical changes in terms of aesthetics. The new model definitely looks narrower and comes with much sharper lines, but the overall shape is somehow the same. Still, it looks like the new generation has more in common with the flagship Q7, compared to previous models.
While aesthetics might look like Audi designers didn’t put too much effort, mechanical aspect of the car definitely brings lots of significant improvements. Of course, the new model rides on the company’s familiar MQB platform. In this particular case, the new chassis plays the main role. The new model is lighter, which guarantees better efficiency. Also, it provides a smoother ride than before. Finally, the new model is characterized by amazing sound isolation, even at high speeds.

The 2020 Audi Q5 will represent the third production year of the current generation, so we don’t count on more important changes. The best we can get is a couple of new color options. Bigger novelties will come with a mid-cycle refresh, which is expected in a few years.
2020 Audi Q5 Interior
One of the 2020 Audi Q5’s strongest points will definitely be an upscale cabin. It should continue in the same way as the current model. We don’t expect to see any important modifications, except maybe new color schemes. The first thing you’ll notice inside this crossover is an amazing quality of all materials. Soft-touch surfaces are all around, while the whole cabin looks like it was built to last for decades. Seats are massive and supportive, while the leather upholstery is a standard feature across the whole range of models. Rear seats also feature a fine amount of legroom, but a huge complaint goes to a massive center hump, which makes a middle rear seat practically useless. When it comes to the cargo space, you can count on slightly above-average numbers. This crossover features around 27 cubic feet behind rear seats and 60 cubic feet of overall cargo space.

Trim Levels
As we already mentioned, the best we can get from the 2020 Audi Q5 in terms of novelties could be new colors, but also a couple of new standard features. Still, the base trim level organization will definitely remain unchanged. So, count on three well-known versions.
Base models wear Premium badge and already come with plenty of standard equipment. Some of the exterior highlights are LED daytime running lights and taillights, automatic xenon headlights, automatic wipers, power liftgate, roof rails, 18-inch wheels etc. On the inside, you get leather upholstery, push-button start, tri-zone automatic climate control, 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, smartphone integration etc.
The Premium Plus trim adds a fine number of interesting features. You can count on LED headlights, panoramic sunroof, parking sensors, heated seats, driver memory settings, satellite radio etc.
Finally, there is the Prestige trim, with standard features like 20-inch wheels, ambient interior lighting, navigation, premium sound system and Audi’s famous 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, better known as the virtual cockpit.

2020 Audi Q5 Engines
The engines will be in the offer for the 2020 Audi Q5. Like the current year model, base version will be equipped with an efficient 2.0-liter turbo inline-four, which delivers around 250 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. For those who want to get some serious sports performances, an optional SQ5 version will be available as well. This model comes with a 3.0-liter V6 engine, which delivers around 350 horsepower. When it comes to the transmission, the base four-cylinder engine comes with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, while the V6 comes with 8-speed automatic transmission. In both cases, AWD is standard.
2020 Audi Q5 Release Date and Price
Considering that bigger changes probably won’t come, the 2020 Audi Q5 shouldn’t arrive before late in the year. Base models will go around 43.000 dollars. Competition in the segment is pretty tough. Some of the best models in the class are crossovers like Acura RDX, Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3 etc.
