One of the most interesting things about Jeep is that although this company is specialed for SUV vehicles, there aren’t many real SUV under its badge these days. Moreover, almost all models in the lineup are crossovers. The only body-on-frame SUV is Wrangler. However, this is going to change, considering that the company is bringing back one of its most famous nameplates. Yes, we are talking about the 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoner, which will be the company’s new flagship SUV, a real body-on-frame machine with lots of strong points. At this point, we know that the new model is under development and that will be a full-size SUV. Rest of the design characteristics relies primarily on speculations.
2020 Jeep Grand Wagoner Design
In terms of base design characteristics, we know that the 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoner will be a full-size SUV. More precisely, it will be a full-size SUV with a stretched wheelbase, which will make it a direct competitor of models like Chevy Suburban and Ford Expedition XL. Along with the Grand Wagoner, a “regular” Wagoner will come as well. This one will compete with standard Expedition and Tahoe models. As you may presume, the platform will be borrowed from the legendary Ram pickup.
This model has been redesigned recently and it features a completely new architecture. This is a clear indicator that the 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoner will be a modern SUV, with not just amazing performances, but with lots of efficiencies as well. This will be highly beneficial in term of fuel economy, which is these days hugely important even in this segment. After all, many full-size SUV switched to smaller and more efficient V6 engines, including the new Expedition. When it comes to the chassis setup, expect to see the latest design solutions. Does this means an independent rear suspension, which is offered in Expedition and should become available in Chevy models as well, it is still early to say.
2020 Jeep Grand Wagoner Styling
This aspect is still pretty intriguing and, at this point, we can rely only on speculations. The only certain thing about the new model is that we won’t see those legendary wood panels that characterized old Wagoners. On the other side, we count on a pretty common SUV shape, with a large wagon-like body and quite a boxy approach. This especially refers to the rear end. It should feature almost vertical hatch, in order to provide as much as possible cargo space. The front end, though, should stick to the brand’s familiar design philosophy. In practice, this would mean familiar grille design with vertical bars and lots of influence from Grand Cherokee. Of course, count on lots of distinctive details as well, which seems natural, considering its body-on-frame design.
2020 Jeep Grand Wagoner Interior
At this point, we can talk only about base interior design characteristics. This would mean that we can expect a comment three-row setup. Thanks to a stretched wheelbase, the third row should be quite spacious and comfortable as well. Definitely with enough legroom to accommodate adult passengers. Of course, a great cargo volume is certain thing as well.
When it comes to the cabin’s design, it is hard to say something more precise at the moment. The closest mode in size is Grand Cherokee and that model features a design from 2011. On the other side, the Wrangler is new but definitely too small to have a bigger influence on the new 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoner. Therefore, we are pretty sure that Jeep is going to come up with something completely new, with a dashboard design that will set standards for upcoming models from this renowned manufacturer. On the other side, we have no doubt that the new model will come with all the latest tech features FCA has to offer at this point.
2020 Jeep Grand Wagoner Engines
We are pretty sure that the 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoner will rely on V8 engines, unlike some other models in the class.
Base models should arrive with a familiar 5.7-liter engine that delivers around 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque.
A larger 6.4-liter unit will find its place under the hood as well. This engine delivers around 475 horses and 470 pound-feet of torque, which would make this SUV a real performance car. Speaking of performances, we can only hope that the mighty 6.2-liter Hellcat will find its place under the hood of 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoner. This unit delivers 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. It doesn’t seem very likely at this point, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t hope for it.
2020 Jeep Grand Wagoner Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoner sometime in the next year. When this is going to happen, it is still hard to say. On the other side, we can presume that base models will go around 50.000 dollars.
