Audi Q6 review

While the key rivals BMW and Mercedes-Benz have been selling these vehicles for the year, Audi has finally started with coupe SUVs this year. This first model to come was a large Q8 model and we are now eagerly waiting to see a smaller version as the Q6. At this point, we know that the new model is under development and that should arrive soon. As you may know, the new e-Tron concept appeared recently and unlike the previous 2016 version, this one looks far more production ready. It definitely looks like something that will in the future carry the Audi Q6 name.

We are still waiting to hear something from the official, but the latest reports suggest the new crossover could come already in the next year. As you may presume, it will be slotted between Q5 and Q7 models, which means it will coquette with both compact and mid-size segments.

Audi Q6 Redesign

In terms of base design characteristics, this will be a modern, coupe-like crossover. We have no doubt that the new model will ride on the newest version of the company’s familiar MLB platform, which underprints most of the crossovers of the company from Ingolstadt. In terms of size, the new Audi Q6 will be slotted in between Q5 and Q7 models. This means it should walk on a fine line between compact and mid-size crossovers. We presume that Audi wants to make this model more exclusive, so it will probably come close to the bigger Q7. This would mean a longer wheelbase than the Q5, but similar overall length, due to shorter overhangs.

Styling

From German carmakers, especially those that are part of the VW Group, you can expect many things, but surprises definitely not. The Audi Q6 is expected to come with quite a familiar approach, which came with the new Q8 model. Practically, two models will feature the same shape. Of course, the Q6 will be significantly smaller. In practice, this would mean a coupe-like shape, famous for its sloping roof and rear end that is far rounder compared to traditional SUVs. As we already mentioned, the new model will probably feature a longer wheelbase than the Q5. On the other side, count on shorter overall lengths, due to the more exclusive styling approach that involves shorter overhangs.
On the other side, the front end will look kinda familiar. Just like on the Q8, we will see the brand’s familiar face, the latest design language that involves lots of sharp angles, but still keeps a fine dose of smoothness and fluidity, which separate premium from mainstream cars.

Audi Q6 Interior

On the inside, we count on a layout that is common for these coupe-like crossovers. Despite being a quite large vehicle, the Audi Q6 will come with only two rows of seating. Due to a longer wheelbase, we can count on plenty of legroom and high level of overall comfort. On the other side, a sloping roof will definitely make this crossover less practical. Don’t expect some spectacular cargo volume. Moreover, headroom could also be a little bit insufficient in the second row, due to a coupe layout.
Anyway, you can bet on plenty of luxury in the Audi Q6. The new crossover will come as a very upscale mode, with stylish dashboard design and hi-end materials. Also, count on latest tech feature, pretty much everything this company has to offer at the moment, including the famous Virtual Cockpit. It should be standard already in base models.

Audi Q6 Engines

The last crossover Audi presented features all-electric drivetrain. Therefore, a chance to see Audi Q6 e-Tron is really big. We count on a completely new setup, which will feature powerful electric motors, as well as a large battery pack that should provide a quite long range. Latest reports suggest that the new model will be able to make more than 300 miles on a single charge, which definitely sounds great.
Besides all-electric version, we count on a familiar gasoline engine. Base models will probably feature a familiar 2.0-liter turbo inline-four. It is good for about 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. Higher trims will be equipped with a 3.0-liter V6, which is good for about 333 hp and 325 pound-feet of torque. Both engines will come with a new 8-speed automatic transmission.
In Europe and some other parts of the world, we count on diesel engines as well. Of course, that should be a familiar 3.0-liter V6 TDI. It is good for 282 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque.
Eventually, a hi-performance version should arrive soon after.

Audi Q6 Release Date and Price

Though we are still waiting for the official confirmations, the new Audi Q6 could easily arrive already in the next year. When it comes to the price, we count on a similar price range as for the Q7 model. Moreover, the base price could be even higher. Our rough estimation would go around 50.000 dollars for the base model.
