2020 Volvo XC60 review

You will hardly find many compact crossovers that can match the XC60 in terms of luxury. This crossover has been around for a decade and it instantly established its position on the market. It is one of those models that offer an amazing value for the money. The current version represents the second generation model, which rides since last year. Considering the recent overhaul, we are pretty sure that the 2020 Volvo XC60 won’t feature too many important changes.

The new generation is strong aspects, so the best we could see in the new model are things like a few more standard features, new color options, and similar things. On the other side, the styling, mechanics, and interior should keep familiar characteristics. Given the fact that there are no bigger changes planned for the next year, expect to see its launch sometime late in the year.

2020 Volvo XC60 Redesign

The new XC60 is impressive in many ways. It would be hard to count all the goodies that the recent redesign has brought. Still, there are some highlights. Of course, the new model came with completely new mechanics. The platform and chassis setup made this compact crossover much better to drive. It offers more comfort, but better handling as well. We have no doubt that the 2020 Volvo XC60 will continue in the same way, with an optional air suspension, which puts the overall ride quality at a very high level. Moreover, there are five selectable driving modes. This feature is standard in all model and makes this crossover pretty versatile, in term of driving preferences.

The recent redesign has also brought a completely new styling. The XC60 sports the brand’s newest design language and takes a lot of inspiration from the bigger XC90 model. Of course, there is a fine amount of distinctive details as well. Given all the goodies that came with the recent design, we are pretty sure that the 2020 Volvo XC60 won’t feature any important change in terms of styling and overall exterior design.

2020 Volvo XC60 Interior

The XC60 looks and rides great but its cabin is definitely the strongest point. There are many compact luxury crossovers around, but just a small number of them offers such amazing interior quality, which is pretty much on par with bigger crossovers. The complete cabin is made of top-quality materials, but another thing that impresses it the style. The dashboard and complete interior look amazingly stylish. Like in the flagship XC90, the dash is highlighted by a large, vertically-positioned touchscreen, among other goodies.

Besides lots of the style, this crossover offers plenty of space as well. There are two spacious rows of massive and supportive seats, which are power-adjustable in all versions. In terms of the legroom, this is definitely one of the class leaders in both rows. Same goes to the cargo area, which offers around 22 cubic feet behind rear seats and impressive 63 cubic feet of overall cargo space.

Of course, a list of standard equipment is amazing too. All models are equipped with tech goodies like a 9-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, premium audio system etc. There are also convenience features like power-adjustable seats, a sunroof, dual-zone climate control and much more. Higher trim levels offer even more. Some of the highlights are a 12.3-inch digital cluster, premium leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel and much more.

2020 Volvo XC60 Safety

When it comes to safety, don’t be fooled by the vehicles compact dimensions. This is a typical Volvo car, which guarantees excellent ratings on crash tests. Also, there is an impressive list of standard safety features. Some of the highlights are collision mitigation with active braking, automatic braking after a collision, pedestrian detection, run-off-road mitigation and protection, oncoming lane mitigation and driver drowsiness monitor, traffic sign recognition, lane keep assist, automatic high beams etc.
Things like adaptive cruise control, steering assist, rear collision warning with braking, rear cross traffic alert, active park assist etc. are also available.

2020 Volvo XC60 Engines

The 2020 Volvo XC60 definitely won’t feature changes in this aspect. There are familiar powertrain options, typical for pretty much every Volvo crossover. The offer starts with a 2.0-liter turbo-four gasoline engine that delivers around 250 hp. The same engine is available in a version with both turbo and supercharger. Such combination provides a max output of around 320 horsepower. Of course, there is a familiar hybrid system in the offer as well. It delivers around 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.
A diesel version comes with a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine, which comes in two power outputs, with either 190 or 235 horsepower.
