2021 Hyundai Tucson Spied

The compact SUV segment is currently the most popular class in the US market. That is why we are seeing changes in models so frequently. Every year something new is waiting for fans. Now it is time for the 2021 Hyundai Tucson. The company is already testing prototypes and the first clues are showing interesting updates.

Even the company came out with plans for the upcoming crossover SUV. The focus is on driving dynamics. Also, there is a new version of the way. The performance-oriented N model will deliver more power. Also, the more aggressive appearance will follow high outputs.

Hyundai hopes to achieve at least 200,000 sales for the 2021 Hyundai Tucson. Last year, they managed to get to 150k. However, the Korean company is also adding a larger SUV to its lineup, Hyundai Palisade. It is just a matter of time when will premium Genesis GV80 make a debut, while the new concept, Rugged SUV, is going to challenge Toyota Land Cruiser.

Engines

Tucson is a worldwide edition of Hyundai’s compact crossover SUV. Depending on the market, we will see different drivetrains. The US edition keeps the current lineup. The base models are using 2.0-liter inline-four engines capable to deliver 165 hp. The compact crossover returns 25 mpg combined if you are riding the FWD version. Increased consumption for an all-wheel drive is the main reason why the company focuses on this segment.

The current crossover in the US comes with a 2.5-liter unit as an alternative. However, it produces only 15 hp more than its smaller sibling. The company is looking for something more powerful. A 1.6-liter turbocharged mill is a possibility. However, it is offering nearly the same amount of power and extra torque that reaches 195 lb-ft. The main advantage is the fuel economy, though.

Outside the US, the 2021 Hyundai Tucson will continue to use a diesel engine. Significant improvements in fuel economy are the result, but increased emissions as well. The smaller displacement is a 1.6-liter with 115 hp, 200 lb-ft, and combined fuel economy above 45 mpg. The 2.0 CRDi is the favorite in most markets where it appears. It lacks a bit of torque (180 lb-ft) but produces more power (115 hp).

2021 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid

The 2021 Hyundai Tucson is another possibility. Well, this is just a rumor, started in Europe. The new model will get a new drivetrain based on a diesel motor. So, it is not so likely to happen in the USA. On the other hand, the largest market in the world also needs such an update. So, having this in mind, we expect a petrol unit to underpin it, but we still don’t know which one could serve as the base.

2021 Hyundai Tucson N Sport

The brand-new model in the lineup is going to be the 2021 Hyundai Tucson N Sport. The performance-oriented version will be able to deliver 350 horsepower. However, we still don’t know which engine can deliver it. Turbochargers are certain. But, is it going to be a high-performance four-pot or tuned V6, we will see. Early announcements say the new Tucson N Sport is going to sprint 0-60 mph in just six seconds. We could see the i20 and i30 with similar upgrades and packages.

2021 Hyundai Tucson Redesign

Changes under the hood might be a priority, but the 2021 Hyundai Tucson is also going to take cosmetic changes. Designers will have to continue where they stopped last time when Tucson and its predecessor ix35 surprised the entire world with its stylish appearance. Now, it is time for the next update. Spy photos are not unveiling too much. Still, there is plenty of time before the new SUV hits the market. So, even unveiled, it is questionable if the current design will remain an option for production.

Interior

The 2021 Hyundai Tucson will carry over most of the cool things we could find on its predecessor. The most notable part is a huge infotainment display with a simple layout of the instrument cluster. If you are looking for a more luxury, then higher trim levels will offer leather seats and steering wheel. Of course, there are heating and pretty spacious trunk. The new model will come with the same dimensions and the cargo volume of 31/62 cubic feet with rear seats up/folded.

2021 Hyundai Tucson Release Date

Hyundai has big plans for the upcoming season. The debut of the new Tucson is one of the priorities, but there are also other models, such as premium Genesis SUV, or Santa Cruz truck, on their way. Still, we believe the release date of the 2021 Hyundai Tucson is somewhere in the second half of 2020. The price will remain unchanged for the base model, so the new crossover can be competitive among the strong competition. The base price should start under $25,000.
