However, there is no official source to confirm the arrival of the CX-7. The base 2021 Mazda CX-9 will remain the Sport with 18-inch alloy wheels. Plus, the entry-level package is offering a tri-zone air-conditioning system, rain-sensing wipers, and Mazda’s i-Activsense safety bundle. On Touring trim you will find Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard options, and leather will improve comfort of seats. The front row is power-adjustable. A nine-inch touchscreen is the highlight of the control panel.
The Grand Touring SUV spices it up with ventilated first row buckets and heated steering wheel. Larger wheels and power moonroof are premium features on this version. But, that is not the best the 2021 Mazda CX-9 can offer. Nappa leather remains available only for the Signature trim. Plus, there are unique trims inside the cabin and the second row replaces bench with captain’s chairs.
2021 Mazda CX-9 Specs
The drivetrain is probably the major lack of the mid-size SUV. Although 200 inches long, the vehicle is using a turbo-four powerplant. Its 250 hp is just not enough even for the mid-size segment. Mazda will have to think about serious upgrades under the hood to stay competitive. A 2.5-liter turbo engine is also producing 310 lb-ft of torque, which is better than most other SUVs in the same class. But, the CX-9 is not getting extra towing capacity. On the contrary, it stuck at 3,500 pounds.
Price
The MSRP of the 2021 Mazda CX-9 will jump a bit after the redesign, especially if the SUV gets a new engine. It is already one of the most expensive mid-size models in the market with the starting price at $35,000. Signature trim will end up just above $50k, leaving enough room for pricing other trims between these two ends.
