Despite the age, this small crossover still marks some pretty impressive sales numbers. The reason is quite simple. We are talking about a model that is simple and cheap to maintain. At the same time, it comes with a long list of standard equipment and a decent cargo hold. All that comes at a quite affordable price, so it’s no wonder that its popularity is still at a high level, even though we are talking about a model that has been around 2013. The latest reports suggest that Chevy won’t give up on this model, even though the replacement has already been around for a while, in the form of the new TrailBlazer. All in all, the 2022 Chevy Trax should carry on in the same way, with familiar design characteristics and features.
This means you may count on a simple and reliable small crossover, which is great in terms of maneuverability. At the same time, the cabin isn’t that small at all. Also, we like the long list of standard equipment, while the infotainment system seems okay as well. On the other side, the biggest complaints go to things like engine power, narrow seats and a quite firm ride.
Considering that there are no changes to come, we expect that the 2022 Chevy Trax will arrive sometime late in the year.

2022 Chevy Trax Redesign
As we’ve just mentioned, bigger design changes definitely won’t happen. The current generation has been for a pretty long time and we don’t expect to see it in production for too much longer. Still, the 2022 Chevy Trax will carry on and it will come with a design that hasn’t essentially changed since 2013. This model rides on a good old Gamma II platform and shares a lot with the previous-generation Opel Mokka.
Styling-wise, we saw a facelift four years ago. That update has brought a new front-end styling and a more modern overall look. Therefore, we don’t expect to see any aesthetical updates for the next year.
Interior
On the inside, Chevy Trax is a typical subcompact crossover. It is simple and not particularly spacious. Most of the cabin is made from plastics, which build quality is on Chevy’s typical level. Therefore, you may conclude that the Trax is far from the nicest small crossovers on the market, regarding interior design.

Still, it is hard to find any major complaint regarding interior functionality. Despite the size, this crossover offers a decent amount of space. The front row accommodates taller passengers pretty easily, while the second row can deal with adults as well. Still, the front seats could use more support and overall comfort.
When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 18.7 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 48.4 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat. That’s about average for the segment.
Features
The list of standard features shouldn’t change too much compared to the current model. Although not as generous as some other subcompact crossovers, such as Mazda CX-3 or Hyundai Kona, the Trax still offers a pretty decent list of standard equipment. It comes with goodies like remote keyless entry, a 7-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, voice command, and two USB ports. The list of standard features also includes a rearview camera.
There are many upgrades you can get on this crossover. You can upgrade it with remote start, as well as with a couple of safety and driver-assistance features, such as cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors.
2022 Chevy Trax Engine
Under the hood, the 2022 Chevy Trax will continue with a good-old 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine, which puts out around 138 horsepower. The power is sent via 6-speed automatic transmission to the front or all wheels. The whole system works okay in terms of refinement. However, the Trax isn’t particularly fast and can be pretty loud on open roads.
When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on typical ratings for the class. In numbers, that would be around 26 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. Of course, models with all-wheel drive are slightly thirstier.

2022 Chevy Trax Release Date and Price
Since there are no bigger changes to come for the next year, we presume that the 2022 Chevy Trax will hit the market sometime late in the year. Base models should go around 22.000 dollars.
