The next generation of Ford’s capable SUV is on the way. The test mule is here to confirm this and despite it still wears camouflage, it clearly shows that the next, third generation of this nameplate will also be a pretty capable SUV. We expect that the 2022 Ford Everest will arrive next year and once again share most of its parts with the Ranger pickup. Once again, Australia will be the primary market. Still, we wouldn’t be surprises if we see it in North America as well. The European version has been rumored too.
At this point, we don’t know much about details but we know for sure that the 2022 Ford Everest will continue with a fully framed platform. Also, we count on a variety of powertrain options, including a PHEV version. Of course, the styling will be completely new and should have a lot in common with the new Ranger. The same thing goes for interior design.

2022 Ford Everest Redesign
The third generation of this SUV is expected to arrive sometime in the next year. The test mule has been spotted in Europe and despite the camouflage, it clearly shows some of the most basic design characteristics. The first thing that comes to mind is the platform. The 2022 Ford Everest will continue as a body-on-frame SUV, which a sturdy design and strong off-road capabilities. Of course, the chassis and most of the parts will be shared with the new Ranger, which is also coming all-new for the next year.
Big upgrades are expected regarding suspension setup, which should provide a little bit more comfortable ride. Also, we expect to see some pretty capable versions in the offer, maybe even a Raptor-badge model, which would come with a full pack of off-road goodies
Exterior
The test model still wears camouflage and we can’t see the specific design solutions on the 2022 Ford Everest. On the other hand, some of the most basic things can be notices. For example, we can clearly see the same C-shaped headlights that will characterize the new Ranger. We believe that these two models will feature the same front end. On the other hand, the overall shape will come in a typical SUV manner. We don’t expect a bigger overall shape.
The same thing goes for dimensions. The 2022 Ford Everest will probably feature a pretty similar size as the current generation, with minor changes only. This is a typical mid-size SUV and many experts believe that bigger dimensions would compromise its off-road capabilities, especially things like a longer wheelbase, longer overhangs, and similar things.
If the Raptor model is about to arrive, we presume it will come with loads of unique styling details, starting from a blacked grille and other Raptor’s signature details.

Interior
At this point, we can’t know much about the 2022 Ford Everest interior. Still, we may presume that most of the design solutions could be shared with the new Ranger. This particularly refers to the dashboard design, which should look pretty similar. This includes large infotainment screens as well. Base models could come with 12-inch units, while a huge 15.5-inch unit could be offered too.
On the other hand, we don’t expect significant changes regarding space and overall functionality. The overall cabin layout should remain the same. This means we should see three rows of seats and a decently sized cargo area. Of course, the third row will be typically tight for the segment, while the first two rows should accommodate adult passengers with ease.

2022 Ford Everest Engines
The 2022 Ford Everest could be offered in many parts of the world and that’s why experts count on several engine options. Of course, we presume those would be the same ones that will power the new Ranger. Since Australia will continue to be a primary market, there will be two diesel engines on the offer. The current 2.0-liter turbodiesel will be the base option, while the bigger 3.0-liter V6 is expected to be offered as well. This engine puts out around 250 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque.
We also count on a gasoline version, especially if the new 2022 Ford Everest is about to be offered in North America. In that case, a 2.7-liter V6 with 325 horsepower looks like a safe pick. A smaller 2.3-liter turbo-four is also possible.
Finally, we won’t exclude the possibility to see a plug-in hybrid setup. This model still waits for official confirmation.
All engines will come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
2022 Ford Everest Release Date
At this point, we are still waiting to hear something from the officials but we are pretty sure the new generation will arrive sometime in the next year. Rumors say it could hit the market already in the first quarter o 2022. Key competitors are models like Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport etc.
