The SUV segment is getting more and more competitive and, therefore, many manufacturers are working on their lineups. In order to make the offer as wider as possible, each year we are seeing completely new vehicles of different designs and characteristics. One of the most interesting additions for the next year could be the 2019 Audi Q9. If you are familiar with the lineup of the company from Ingolstadt, you knew that the current numbering of the “Q” series counts up to seven. Therefore, there is still plenty of space for new models in the lineup. This one is about to become a flagship model, as the biggest and most luxurious model we’ve ever seen from Audi. At the moment, it is rumored that the German carmaker is working on this model, though more precise details are still unknown.

By using the most basic logic, we can easily conclude that the new model will be very large. The current flagship model, the Q7, is a mid-size crossover, which clearly indicates that Audi is about to enter the full-size segment. This means that the recently-introduced, new generation of the famous A8 sedan will serve as a basis for the new SUV. The A8 came completely redesigned a year ago, with lots of new design solutions. Also, the Q7 is still pretty fresh. Both models ride on the company’s newest version of a familiar MLB platform, which underprints all larger vehicles from the VW Group. The new 2019 Audi Q9 should feature even longer wheelbase compared to the flagship sedan, which measures almost 124 inches.
2019 Audi Q9 Styling
This aspect still leaves a lot of space for speculations. At this point, we can presume that the basics of the Q7 will serve as a starting point. The new 2019 Audi Q9 should come in a similar shape, just in a much bigger package. This means a classic wagon-like body style, which is characterized by a pretty sleek profile for this type of vehicle. Of course, count on the brand’s newest design language filled up with a plethora of unique details, which would make the flagship SUV more exclusive. Most like, those would be similar kinds of details that characterize the new A8 sedan, which means even sharper styling approach than before.
2019 Audi Q9 Interior
The interior will definitely be one of the most important aspects of the 2019 Audi Q9. We are pretty sure that the new crossover will feature a cabin very similar to the new A8, especially when it comes to the dashboard layout. This means an absolute luxury in pretty much all aspects. First of all, count on top-grade materials. The styling of the dash will feature a high amount of horizontal lines and almost complete absence of analog controls. 2019 Audi Q9 Engine
There is no place for surprises in this aspect of the 2019 Audi Q9. The new SUV should come with the company’s familiar units, with both gasoline and diesel engines in the offer. The offer will probably start with a 3.0-liter V6 engine that delivers around 340 horsepower. Of course, we can count on a bigger 4.0-liter V8 as well. This unit is good for about 450 horsepower. Latest reports suggest a huge W12 engine from Bentley Bentayga should find its place under the hood as well. This unit will probably be slightly detuned, to somewhere around 580 horses.
Diesel lineup will start with a 3.0-liter TDI V6 unit, with a max output of 280 horses. A bigger 4.0-liter V8 should be in the offer as well. This one is good for 430 horsepower. All engines should come paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
When it comes to the hybrid version, we still don’t have any precise info about the powertrain, though various reports suggest a combination of V6 engine and twin electric motors. More details should be known soon.
2019 Audi Q9 Release Date and Price
The 2019 Audi Q9 will definitely come in the near future, but we can be certain about the launch date. It could come in a year, but also a little bit later. When it comes to the price, our estimation goes between 70.000 and 80.000 dollars for the base model. Competition in the segment is really tough. Of course, the biggest rivals will be models like Mercedes-Benz GLS and BMW’s new full-size crossover. Also, count on the more traditional body-on-frame SUVs as potential competitors. Those are models like Toyota Land Cruiser, Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes-Benz G Class etc.
