For the third production year, we probably won’t see too many changes. The 2020 GMC Terrain is about to come with a familiar design, which has been introduced two years ago. The second generation of this crossover came with a lot of interesting changes. It is smaller than before and also features new styling, new mechanics, interior design and much more. Despite that updates are much more frequent these days, we are pretty sure that the company won’t touch anything before a mid-cycle update, which is expected to happen in about a year or two.
Until then, count on a familiar layout, which represents the brand’s newest design language. The best we could see for the next year could be a couple of new color options and more standard equipment. Other than that, things will remain the same. Expect to see 2020 GMC Terrain sometime late in the year.

2020 GMC Terrain Redesign
In terms of base design characteristic, the 2020 GMC Terrain will continue with a quite familiar layout. Despite the size decrease, this is still a typical compact crossover, which rides on the company’s familiar D2 platform. Of course, most of the mechanical parts are shared to the Chevy Equinox.
On the other side, styling is completely different. The Terrain is one of the first models that came with the company’s new design language, characterized by interesting headlights shape, but also by a more muscular approach compared to the original model.
Considering that the 2020 GMC Terrain will represent the third production year, it will come without more important changes, probably with few more color options. A mid-cycle refresh is expected in the next few years. For that occasion, we will probably see a couple of interesting styling modifications, particularly at the front end.

2020 GMC Terrain Interior
We have no doubt that the interior will continue to be one of the 2020 GMC Terrain’s strongest points. This crossover features one of the finest cabins in the class, characterized by lots of hi-quality materials and a pretty stylish dashboard layout. The cabin is also very practical and functional. Typically for a compact crossover, it comes with two rows of seats. Still, the second row seems like it delivers better comfort and more space compared to most rivals. Seats are massive and supportive, while the cargo area is spacious as well. You can count on 30 cubic feet behind rear seats and around 60 cubic feet once the second row folds down. These definitely aren’t class-leading numbers. Moreover, these are slightly below-average numbers. Still, one of the advantages is a folding passenger’s seat, which raises overall volume 81 cubic feet.

2020 GMC Terrain Features
Besides quality interior, the 2020 GMC Terrain will also come with a lot of standard equipment. We expect to see a couple of additions for the next year, but the core should remain pretty much the same. Therefore, base models will be equipped with things like 7-inch touch screen, voice recognition, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, four USB ports, Bluetooth, a six-speaker sound system, and a built-in Wi-Fi hot spot etc. Higher trims are also equipped with things like a bigger 8-inch touch screen, HD radio, satellite radio, a seven-speaker Bose premium sound system, a 110-volt household-style power outlet, wireless charging etc.
In terms of safety, the current model definitely isn’t impressive. A rearview camera is the only standard safety features. On the other side, a list of available safety systems is pretty long and includes things like a surround-view parking camera, automatic park assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane change alert, rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, low-speed forward automatic braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning etc. We hope that some of these systems will become standard in the 2020 GMC Terrain.

2020 GMC Terrain Engines
The 2020 GMC Terrain will continue with three familiar engines in the offer. Base models will continue with a small but quite efficient 1.5-liter turbo engine, which is good for about 170 horsepower. If you are for some better performances, an optional 2.0-liter turbo-four seems like a much better choice. You can count on more than 250 horsepower, which is quite impressive for the class.
On the other side, those who prefer economical ride would appreciate the fact that a diesel engine is also in the offer. It is a familiar 1.6-liter turbo diesel, which isn’t too powerful (137 hp), but still gives quite punchy acceleration, due to 240 pound-feet of torque. It is a quite economical engine. In this case, it returns around 28 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway.
2020 GMC Terrain Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2020 GMC Terrain sometime late in the year. We don’t expect to see any bigger changes in terms of the price. This means that base models should go around 25.000 dollars.
