The 2021 Chevy Trax is coming with a big portion of changes. The carmaker made a few predictable moves in the compact segment and this is going to be the last of them. First, GM updated Buick Encore, and then the company announced the all-new vehicle, Chevrolet Trailblazer. Now, with the new Trax, General Motors has a complete lineup for battle against Ford and Toyota.
According to reports, the 2021 Chevy Trax will get an updated look with fresh colors and shapes. The Interior is also going to be enhanced. Premier package is not available from 2021, and the rest of the lineup will get the reshuffle of the equipment. Also, new trim levels will be part of the offer.
Trax is going to grow a bit, but it will remain a part of the subcompact class. This is a perfect vehicle for beginners and daily commuting in crowded urban streets. However, if you need more power and faster CUV, then try with larger models, such as Equinox, or Trailblazer.

2021 Chevy Trax Engine
According to reports, the existing 1.4-liter drivetrain will be still an option for the 2021 Chevy Trax. Other engines are not mentioned in rumors, but the carmaker will update the lineup as well. Until that happens, a four-cylinder powerplant is going to produce 140 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. The gas mileage is one of the major reasons why you should pick the subcompact vehicle since the upcoming crossover is going to offer 30 mpg combined. Improvements on the drivetrain and weight drop will be enough to reach this goal. A six-speed automatic gearbox is sending power to front wheels. Trax is one of the rare subcompact CUVs that will offer you an all-wheel drive as well.
Hybrid Model
Some speculations report the GM is working on the hybrid engine. However, information is incomplete and sources are suspicious. General Motors still owe us such drivetrains in other, more important classes. Compact and mid-size segments are already fully stacked with such units. But, none of them is coming from GM. And it is the company’s greatest weakness. Whatsoever, they maintain the positions at top of the sales charts in both small crossovers segments.

2021 YM Update Details
While the rumors about the new drivetrains and hybrid units are rumors, we already know a bit of detail about the redesign. Trax is getting a new look with fresh shapes. Also, the company is changing its color palette. We must wait a few more months until the official unveiling and complete the information about the 2021 Chevy Trax.
The Premier trim level is out for next season. Chevrolet will make it out with new packages. Meanwhile, the LS and LT versions are still there. But, it is not enough without the top of the class vehicle. The base trims are nicely equipped with Apple CarPlay, USB ports, and few other cool gadgets, the 2021 Chevy Trax will be one of the best-packed models in the market.
2021 Chevy Trax Trim Levels
The LS model will remain the entry-level unit. It comes with 16-inch wheels, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto services. Infotainment3 system is the base offer with an 8-inch screen. Quite a big display for the subcompact vehicle. Halogen lights and stability control center are also available. The LT adds roof rails, premium cloth upholstery, and LED DRLs. The new top class model will definitely upgrade it with leather and premium infotainment features. Also, a turbocharged engine might lead to a sportier ride, which needs a special tuning, outside and inside, with unique bumpers, wheels, and spoilers.

Competition
The 2021 Chevy Trax will not have an easy task to maintain its position among class leaders. The competition does not sit calm and wait. Ford is working on its new crossover which will replace the EcoSport. For some while, we can hear the Blue Oval company is going to give up this segment, but now it seems their engineers are working on an all-electric model. Japanese carmakers are there with Toyota C-HR, Honda HR-V, and Nissan Kicks. If you are looking for premium features, no one can beat German manufacturers. Our recommendation is BMW X1, as one of the best subcompact crossover the money can buy. Of course, it costs significantly higher.
2021 Chevy Trax Launching Delay
Chevrolet wanted to present the new crossover before the Detroit Auto Show. However, it is questionable if this happening is going to be held. So, the carmaker reconsidered the release date and delayed it for the final quarter of this season. The initial MSRP will start around $22,000. LT adds $2,000. You need to add another two grands for all-wheel drive. The top of the range models will be above $30,000.
