If you are willing to spend nearly $100k for the super-premium SUV, then the 2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum could be the right choice. This is a rival to Lincoln Navigator Black Label. Their prices are similar and both SUVs have their pros and cons compared to its archrival. Besides the Platinum package, buyers of the big rig can also pick a base, Luxury, and Premium Luxury versions. Each of them offers a unique package of features and top of the line model will come with stunning equipment.
Under the hood of the 2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum is a 6.2-liter V8 engine. With more than 400 horsepower, it is one of the most powerful premium SUVs. Land Rover Range Rover will offer some high-output editions, while the Toyota Land Cruiser has excellent off-road capabilities. Still, the price tag is the stumbling block for most buyers, since Platinum starts from $94,000.
2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum Accessories
When you are purchasing the 2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum, you are getting all elements from lower levels, including Premium Luxury. Plus, there are semi-aniline leather seats for two rows. The third bench surface is covered with Mulan leather. This material is all over the control panel, including door trims, instrument center, and other surfaces. Headliner and door pillars are sueded with microfiber.
The driver seat is power-adjustable in 18 ways. Heating, ventilating, and massage is available for front buckets. The driver can select one of three modes, while the co-pilot has two modes. Center console cooler is standard and you won’t find this feature elsewhere in Escalade’s lineup.
Outside, there are premium 22-inch wheels. Chrome inserts are available on them and grille. “Platinum” illumination when you step inside the SUV is something that shows the level of luxury. Premium floor mats and power-retractable assist steps are other cool features that are not available in other trim levels.
Engine and Specs
General Motors equip its premium SUV with the toughest petrol engine in the lineup. The 2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum will carry a 6.2-liter V8 drivetrain that is capable to burst 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Its main rival, Lincoln Navigator is using a twin-turbo version of a 3.5-liter V6 motor and delivers 450 hp and 500 lb-ft. Of course, the GM offers rear-wheel drive as the standard model, while the 4WD remains an additional option. The SUV is transferring power through a smooth 10-speed transmission. Fuel economy gets a boost compared to previous versions, with 17 mpg combined, but up to 23 mpg on the highway. With power sent to all wheels, the rating drops to 21 mpg, but combined consumption remains the same.
2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum vs Competition
As said, the main competition for ht GM’s product is coming from Ford’s cuisine. Well, that is the case on most occasions. Ford’s premium brand and its Lincoln Navigator are offering the high-luxurious Black Label with special interior themes. The level of equipment is on the highest level, like for the 2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum. Other rivals are Japanese models. Toyota Land Cruiser is the choice if you want to go off-road, while there are no super-luxurious packages available with this model, or other Toyota’s product, Lexus LX 570. Infiniti QX80 will be based on the Monograph concept, which promises a lot of improvements for the full-size model. Still, we don’t know what kind of trim levels Nissan’s luxury department is going to offer.
Escalade ESV and Platinum Package
The ESV is the extended version of the full-size SUV. Still, the Platinum package is available for this one as well and brings the same features we already mentioned. The size is the only difference (and other stuff this change causes). This model is 14 inches longer than the standard version, 130 inches compared to 116 in. First, the size of the 2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum will harm a handling a bit. Also, the parking is tougher thanks to an extra 14 inches. Fuel economy also takes damage. On the other hand, the ESV model offers 30 cubic feet of interior space more than the base version. With a total of 120 cubic feet, this is one of the most spacious SUVs in the world.
2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum Price
The base price of the 2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum is $94,000. You can still upgrade it with an all-wheel drive, which adds $3k, premium colors (Red Passion or Crystal White, $600 each), or some of the additional packages. For the Platinum trim level, there is a Sport suite, with unique wheels and colors, or an interior protection package with all-season mats. The brake upgrade system is also available to boost overall performance for $3,000. Heavily loaded, the Platinum package becomes more expensive than its rivals, since the Black Label is not offering extra options.
