It looks like the Japanese manufacturer did a great job with the new CX-30, which slots between the CX-3 and CX-5. Based on the new Mazda 3 hatchback, it brings an additional dose of practicality and puts Mazda at the top of the segment. As we are talking about a pretty fresh model, it seems logical to see no bigger changes. However, the Japanese manufacturer things differently and brings one huge, substantial novelty. Of course, we are talking about a new powertrain option, which will turn this small crossover into a real monster.
Other than that, things will remain mostly the same. You may count on Mazda’s typical driving experience, which is all about excellent handling and great driving experience. Also typically for Mazda, you may count on a luxurious interior, as well as on a lot of style and features. The new 2021 Mazda CX-30 is already available in most markets.

2021 Mazda CX-30 Gets New Engine
Without any doubt, the biggest novelty for the 2021 Mazda CX-30 is a new engine. We are talking about a familiar 2.5-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 227 horsepower with regular fuel and a full 250 horsepower with premium gasoline. That’s the same engine that powers the significantly bigger CX-9. So, you may presume how amazing acceleration and overall performances will be, especially if we consider the engine’s monstrous max torque that goes up to 330 pound-feet. The exact numbers are yet to come, but we expect that the new version will be significantly quicker compared to the base model, which hits sixty in about eight seconds.
The base model will continue in the same way. We are talking about a naturally-aspirated version of the same 2.5-liter engine, which is good for about 185 horsepower. That seems okay for daily commuting, especially if we consider a pretty good fuel economy, which goes around 25 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.
2021 Mazda CX-30 Redesign
As we are talking about the second production year, it seems logical that there are no significant changes in terms of design. Mechanically, this model heavily relies on the new Mazda 3 and that’s easy to notice. Particularly in terms of driving experience. Just like the compact hatchback and sedan, it offers impressive handling. It is responsive and keeps this crossover super-tight in corners. At the same time, the ride is also very comfortable, we would even say cushioned. In total, this small crossover is a real pleasure to drive.

Visually, the 2021 Mazda CX-30 comes without changes. The crossover resembles the hatchback sibling a lot and the higher ground clearance is practically the only substantial change. On the other side, the front end is nearly identical.
Interior
Despite it is one of the cheapest Mazda models in the lineup, this crossover features pretty amazing interior quality. Practically, the overall layout is pretty close to the new Mazda 3 and means a lot of good things. The dashboard looks spectacular, while the whole cabin features materials that are mostly of premium quality. In this aspect, this crossover can give premium models like X1 and Q3 run for their money, while it’s even superior in terms of standard safety features.
The amount of passenger space is pretty good at the front and fairly decent in the second row. When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 20 cubic feet behind the second row. This makes the 2021 Mazda CX-30 one of the rare Mazda models that isn’t at the bottom end of its class in this aspect.

Features
When it comes to the standard equipment, things aren’t much different compared to the previous model year. Therefore, all models come standard with tech goodies like a 7-inch digital instrument cluster display, an 8.8-inch infotainment display, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hot spot, HD Radio, voice recognition, an eight-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, and two USB ports. Additionally, you can get goodies like navigation, wireless device charging, a 12-speaker Bose premium stereo, and satellite radio. The list of options also includes goodies like a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal garage door opener, LED interior lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry etc.
