The 2020 Chevy Trax will be based on the new Blazer SUV. The latest spy photos are unveiling new details and these are the biggest changes on the crossover since 2017. After a few updates, Chevrolet paid more attention to other vehicles in the crossover/SUV class. One of these projects was the return of Chevy Blazer. At the same time, they planned to use the same design language on its smallest crossover. However, the new Trax will lay on the same Gamma II architecture as before.
What else we can expect from the new mini SUV? The body is definitely getting a new look. Inside? Well, the latest vehicles are showing promises. The 2020 Chevy Trax could take advantage of it and borrow some hi-tech features for itself. But, the redesign will definitely change the interior layout. Still, as a small crossover, Trax can’t offer too much space. According to spy shots, the size will be the same as before. Under the hood, you will find the same 1.4-liter engine. Engineers are improving and AWD model. Hybrid is not an option for the next season.
2020 Chevy Trax Specs
A 1.4-liter engine is capable to deliver 140 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. This mini crossover performs the best in an urban area. It is not so suitable for long family trips, although it returns the superb fuel economy. In the city, the 2020 Chevy Trax will go 26 mpg and highway rating is 35 mpg. This is with front-wheel drive setup. An AWD is also an option. But, it consumes more fuel, and fixing that is one of the priorities for the next season.
Lighter materials will be in crossover’s body. By dropping the overall weight, Chevrolet will also boost the fuel economy. The subcompact model can tow up to 1,500 pounds. With trailer hitch and some other upgrades, you can improve the number on your ride. A six-speed automatic transmission is working very smooth in combination with a four-cylinder engine, so there is no reason to change it any time soon.

The new 2020 Chevy Trax was spied for few times. But, the latest photos are showing the most changes. However, the future crossover is still under heavy covers, so we don’t know details. But, some parts are being tested and it is likely that we will see them pretty soon.
So, the last time we saw a prototype of the 2020 Chevy Trax, it carried more parts that will remind us of Blazer SUV. Lights are the first thing appearing under the camouflage. LED lamps are the positioned lower than before. Also, the bumper is taking a new shape, so all of this is making a completely fresh front fascia. On some of the previous appearances, Trax carried black cladding covering. It seems like the wheelbase will be longer since wheels are closer to corners. We can spot the overhangs, which is another part borrowed from a larger sibling.
The rear end showed us the new exhaust tips and taillights. Although covered, the complete rear fascia will get a new shape. Again, we can look at the Blazer to find out what will 2020 Chevy Trax look like.
Interior and Features
Trax is the smallest and the most affordable crossover in Chevy’s lineup. Still, it brings a lot of exciting features inside the cockpit. It might not be spacious, but the interior is organized extremely well. There is a place for five passengers and some storage area. Well, if you plan a longer trip with your family, you will have to consider a larger vehicle. Still, the standard features will include a touchscreen display and Bluetooth connectivity. The next model will have more USB port and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto services. Rearview camera was there for the base LS trim before, and we expect some upgrades with the new model.
Optional features will be available through higher trim levels or additional purchases. Blind-spot monitoring or Bose audio system are some of the most demanding upgrades in previous seasons. Besides that, you can boost safety by adding a few alerts and warning systems, such as cross-traffic alert, or rear parking sensors. Leather seats are optional, as well as power adjusting equipment and heating. The new 2020 Chevy Trax comes with more colors in the palette.
2020 Chevy Trax Release Date, Price
General Motors plans few updates for its crossover and SUV segment. Well, its small vehicles achieved a boost in sales recently. So, the development is faster. The 2020 Chevy Trax is the vehicle that is the closest to production. We don’t see Buick Encore for the next season. Also, the GMC will probably start producing the vehicle in the same category. But, that one is not confirmed yet. So, the new Trax is coming first. We believe that will happen early next year, with the premiere late in 2019.
