If you take a look at the current Tahoe’s lineup, you will find only three trim levels. Buyers can choose between LS, LT, and Premier. The 2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country is not available yet, and the company will release it as an update for the new season. Do not be surprised if the new trim arrives for the next-gen SUV, which is due for 2021 YM.
High Country is the top trim level for Silverado 1500 truck and Traverse mid-size SUV. Since it holds this position, you can realize the potential. High-luxurious interior, advanced infotainment, and safety features, unique exterior, and robust engines are the package you are getting. We will go through the complete features list offered by two of Tahoe’s siblings to see which of them are suitable for the big rig.
Stories about the 2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country are not made out. We saw the big fleet of the new lineup, and there is one suspicious version. But, the small hole on the camouflage panel unveils chrome grille. It is the trademark for the High Country package. This tiny detail is enough for fans to go crazy about it. Still, we don’t have an official update when will this model hit the dealership.
2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country Features
When we compare Silverado and Traverse models, we find 20-inch wheels on both vehicles. Tires on the test mule we saw have different styling, but these are big as well. The 2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country will definitely use this size for aluminum wheels. As said, the part that undisguised the High Country package for the new SUV is chrome grille. Silverado also offers bronze details. Special headlights are also on the way, but the existing SUV and truck are offering different versions. We can see on spy shots that lamps are going to be narrower.
Traverse SUV also comes with a power-folding third-row 60/40 split-bench seat and SkyScape power tilt-sliding sunroof. Similar options are expected for the 2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country. Adaptive cruise control is standard, and the package also includes a trailering package with a hitch and assist system. Of course, the next-gen Tahoe will also add some other features that will boost the overall impression.
2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country Specs
The new SUV will probably go with the most potent option GM has to offer. It is a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. A couple of things are certain for this model. First, it will definitely get a V8 engine. Also, the company is about to launch the new independent rear suspension for the next-gen model. However, the new High Country version could arrive for this generation. Finally, a ten-speed automatic gearbox is a part that makes a difference. Smooth ride and better fuel economy are something that we will always welcome.
Another option is a 5.3-liter V8 unit. However, this could be an entry-level option for the high-end package. It produces 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. However, maximum towing capacity will suffer for about 1,000 pounds. General Motors announced some plans where we find a 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8 setup. This is a new unit, and the High Country could be the best fit for it. But, in this case, we will have to wait for the new generation to arrive and bring the turbo V8 engine. Hybrid is less likely, although we can hear the GM is trying to build such powerplant.
GM Launches New Generation in 2021
Spy photos of the new Tahoe are out for a while. We could see test mules on the street in 2018, and already then every fan knew the next-gen is on the way. Experts were sure the new SUV would be in dealerships in 2020. However, it turned out to be wrong. Now, with the new 2020 YM launched, we believe the next-gen will be ready for the 2021 season.
Meanwhile, we spotted another vehicle. The new test mule unveiled a small detail to show it is not an ordinary model. Until now, we couldn’t purchase Tahoe with a chrome grille. Fans started to search for the explanation, and the only reasonable outcome was – 2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country. Still, with the new generation on its way, the company could save this premiere for the fifth series of the full-size SUV.
The 2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country sounds cool. But, not everything is so perfect. The new top of the lineup trim level will also be the most expensive one. For the Silverado truck, it is $13,000 more expensive than LT. For Traverse, it adds $5,000 over the Premier model. If the difference is the same for Tahoe, the High Country model is going to cost at least $75,000. That is the starting point for luxury SUVs. You can purchase the entry-level of the Cadillac Escalade for this money. Or, if you prefer rivals – Lincoln Navigator, Lexus LX 570, or Infiniti QX80.
